Old Business:

Market Place 2018: Next meeting is September 5 at 6 pm before the Guild meeting.

Pillowcasesfor Ryan’s Case for Smiles: The cases do not have to be washed as was required originally. We should bring our finished ones to our October 24 business meeting so they can be recorded and then taken to the November Guild meeting.

Camp Villages: The first Camp Villages had 15 Guild members with 10 children attending. It was enjoyed by everyone and the children made pillowcases. They meet again in July and August and volunteers will be reminded of their commitments.

Placements are only needed with Christmas/holiday themes and will be given to Veterans Home.

Honor Flight quilts are not needed for now. There is still some discussion as to if they will be needed in the future.

AQS at Ocean Center in Daytona Feb. 29-March 3, 2018: We discussed our Guild involvement and Gwen and Kathy T. are planning on submitting an quilt. Each Chapter can submit three quilts, so if another member wishes to participate, let Beth know before the August 1 Guild meeting. Detailed information is on the Guild website.

Manatee Chapter October Retreat: We had been invited to join them because they did not have enough interest in their Chapter to fill the number requirement. It appears that they still do not have enough and may have to cancel and forfeit their $500 deposit.

Committees:

Program Committee:Lin reported that new classes available are posted on our information board. Lin will turn in registration and fees for those wishing to participate in the “Under the Sea Class” to today’s Program Committee meeting.

There will not be a July Guild meeting because it falls on July 4. The Guild will hold an open sew on July 5 at Rohan. See Guild website for more details. NOTE: Rohan will be open July 4 and our room is available for those wishing to use it.

The August Guild meeting will be “Christmas in July in August” since there was not a July Guild meeting). Each Chapter is asked to share finished holiday projects and some of our members have indicated they will bring something. More details on the Guild website.

A new Guild committee to oversee charities has been established.

Hospitality: Mary indicated that the schedule for those providing our Business Meeting breakfast is in their notebook and working out nicely.

Charity: Marge reported the “Hands of Mercy Everywhere” quilts for the home in Belleview are needed before Christmas. Let Marge know what you are doing and you can check on information is in the Charity Committee binder. There was some discussion about making a trip to visit the home and Marge will look into that and report back.

New Business:

Villages Lifestyle Online Survey: There is a block to leave suggestions and it has been asked that we go online and express a need for a 20,000 square foot or over “convention type center”. Hopefully if enough people express the need they will consider it. This would allow a place for our Guild and other organizations to hold larger activities in The Villages.

Tampa Quilt Show to be held in August. There will be a bus to transports those interested for $25 and a discounted admission for $8. Go to the Guild website fore more information.

Gwen share that those who went to Dunedin to view Annette’s entries at the Dunedin Fine Art Center had a wonderful time. Everyone was amazed at the talented quilt artists and shared a wonderful lunch overlooking the water.

Show and Tell had Kathy T. showing 4 of her beautifully done finished projects. Photos will be shared in our newsletter.

Respectfully submitted,

Bonnie L. Davis, Secretary
