To qualify you need to be placed in a show class, a jumping class and a dressage class.

RING 1 – FAMILY RING

To be judged mainly on compatibility of horse, rider and turn-out.

members of the family. Snaffle Bridle only

5.FANCY DRESS£3.00

Mounted or led. Rosettes and Prizes to all entrants. Hard hats must be worn by riders, but can be decorated in any fashion appropriate to the outfit.

RING 2 – SHOW JUMPING
STARTS 10:00 AM

Course open for walking from 09:30

Class 7 will be two phase classes i.e.Clear rounds followed immediately by timed jump off round. Classes 8 & 9 will have a separate jump off.

6.Horse and Hound. £5.00
Entries accepted until 11:30. Open to all. Riders to complete one round on their horse and one round with a dog.
(Jumps not to exceed 2ft).

7.NOVICE JUMPING –Restricted to riders who have not won a Jumping class other than any Mini class, in 2 sections 12years and under & 13years and over.

(Jumps not to exceed 2ft)£5.00

Note: There will be a 30 min break at this point for lunch

8.OPEN JUMPING

(Jumps not to exceed 2ft 3ins in the first round)£5.00

9.OPEN JUMPING

RING 3 – FUN JUMPING

STARTS 10:00AM

CLEAR ROUND JUMPING - Rosettes for all clear rounds£2:00

(Jumps start at 10:00am at 1ft 6ins, rising during the day.)

10. MINI JUMPING 12:00pm (Entries taken 11:45-12:15)£3.00

Riders 10 years of age and under.

Restricted to rider/horse combination who have not won any jumping class.

(May be led. Jumps will not exceed 1ft 6ins in first round)

CLEAR ROUND JUMPING – recommences at 1:30 pm

RING 4 - HANDY PONY
10:00am to 12:30 and 1:30 to 3:00pm

A fun activity for children 10 years and under – (May be Led)

Approved hard hats are to be worn. Trainers, whips and spurs are not allowed.

Please get your number from the Show Secretary and then make your entries to the Dressage Secretary. No times will be given before the day. Please bring a S.A.E if you need to leave before your test sheet is ready.

Helpers available on the day to call the test or assist in any way.

Each Class to be run in two sections:

  1. Restricted – A Rider not to have won any Dressage competition,
  2. Open.

Restricted riders may enter either or both tests in a class as these will be judged as percentage classes.

Intro’s A and B tests for Restricted riders only.

Rosettes to 6thplacein each section. Special rosettes for each unplaced Junior (16 years and under).

Cups awarded for highest overall percentage by both a Senior and a Junior.

Extra HC rounds available at £2.00 if time allows.

RULES

1.The Judges’ decision is final.

2.No responsibility can be accepted by the organisers or land owners for any accident, loss or damage to a rider, horse, pony, competitor or other person, car, trailer or other vehicle or personal property howsoever caused.

3.Hard Hats to approved BHS standards MUST be worn by competitors at all times, while on horseback. It is the responsibility of the Competitor to ensure their hat complies with these standards.

4.NO WHIPS may be carried nor SPURS worn in any of the Gymkhana events.

5.Dogs must be on leads at all times.

6.CHALLENGE CUPS must be signed for before removal and returned toWincanton Pet Shop, High Street, Wincanton at least2 weeks before the show date.

7.No Entry Money will be refunded.

8.All ponies and horses are to be ridden at a walk outside the rings and warm up areas.

9.All ponies and horses must be at least 4 years of age.

10.Horses and Ponies must NOT be left unattended when tethered anywhere on the Showground.

11.In the interests of safety, Riders who fall from their horses IN ANY CLASS will be eliminated.

HOW TO GET TO THE SHOW

We are off the A303 between Wincanton and Mere. Pen Selwood is well signposted from the A303 but roads are narrow through Pen Selwood itself so please take extra care and drive slowly. There will be signs out to help you. Nearest Postcode is BA9 8LN
