Hamilton House Update
WE hope you’ve driven by the Hamilton House to see the new roof on the house & carriage house. If you approach from the north, you can also see part of the new back porch covering the structural steel supports.
Another big hooray for Dalton mayor David Pennington & the Dalton City Council for helping us obtain the HUD grant for these repairs!
AS with all historic houses, more work is needed. We have recently repaired plumbing & have a list of needed repairs. Many of these repairs will be done by our talented crew—Erik, Ethan, & Sam—saving us money. A painting party will be scheduled so our membership can have a hands-on approach to the renovation! Several items require experts & money. Donations are requested for HVAC replacement, landscaping, repointing brick, & plastering. How do you want to contribute?
Want a “Sneak Peek” of Archives?
IT’S a little difficult to miss the big mess down at the Archives these days –we’ve had things torn up for some time now!! Now it’s time for the folks of Whitfield & Murray counties to see what’s going on! We will be having a “Sneak Peek” of the Archives on Fri., July 30 (5-8 p.m.) & Sat., July 31 (9a.m.-1 p.m.) so that everyone can see the work in progress--what we've accomplished thusfar & what is yet to be accomplished before the Grand Open House in mid-November. You will see exactly how the newly refurbished facility will be set up, meet the folks behind the work, learn about some exciting plans for the future & how you can help! You really won't be able to fully appreciate the building in November unless you see it in process now! Join in the excitement--it's contagious!!! Light refreshments will be served.
We will be mailing out additional information about the “Sneak Peek” & ways that you can help in the near future!
