Judo Saskatchewan 2018 National Selection/funding Criteria

Judo Saskatchewan believes that High Performance Sport consists ofactivities, programs and practices focused on participating/competing in sport events where improvement and winning and excellence is the goal (vs. participation or competing purely for fun, fitness, health, social)

Judo Saskatchewan 2018 National Championship Selection / Funding Criteria The new criteria will now allow clubs to select and submit names of athletes from their clubs to attend Nationals. The athletes will be funded based on a points system with the top athletes receiving higher funding down to athletes who will have to self-fund for the competition. All athletes attending Nationals will have to follow all Judo SK policies and code of conduct regardless of level of funding or self-funding.

Questions regarding the selection/funding criteria should be addressed to Chad Litzenberger Chair of the Selection committee: Club nomination list will need to be submitted to Judo Saskatchewan by March20, 2018. This is one week after the Edmonton International. Send to Selections will be finalized one week after Provincial Championships with the funding list levels being published at that time.

Points will be earned with 1 or more wins in each division. A win is not a walk through in a competition you must actually meet your opponent on the mats to be classified as a win. Competing in 2 weight divisions the best result will be usedfor points

If a U14 athlete would like to qualify for Nationals in U16, Only U16 points will be used. Not U14 Points.

Any athlete taking part in Quebec Open, Ontario Open, Pacific International, and Edmonton International will receive 20pts. for participation.

Quebec Open 1st –175pts, 2nd–150pts, 3rd–125pts, 5th –100pts, 7th –75pts

Quebec Open Camp 100pts

Ontario Open 1st –175pts, 2nd –150pts,3rd –125pts, 5th –100pts, 7th –75pts

Atlantic Championships 1st –115pts, 2nd –95pts, 3rd –60pts, 5th –30pts, 7th –20pts

Elite Nationals 1st –225pts, 2nd—200pts, 3rd –175pts, 5th –150pts

Elite Nationals Camp 50 Points

Sask. Open 1st –115pts, 2nd –95pts, 3rd –60pts, 5th –30pts, 7th –20pts

Inner City Winnipeg 1st—75pts,2nd –50pts, 3rd—25pts

Pacific International 1st –150pts, 2nd –125pts, 3rd –100pts, 5th –75pts, 7th –50pts

Pacific Int. camp 50 Points

Edmonton International 1st –150pts, 2nd –125pts, 3rd –100pts, 5th –75pts, 7th –50pts

Canmore Camp 50pts.

Sask Provincial Competitions 1st –50pts, 2nd –35pts, 3rd –15pts,

Sask. Summer Camp 2018 100pts

1 Day Camps 15pts

Weekend Camps 40pts

International Competitions Points are available based on the level of competition and discussion with committee.

Any athlete winning 4 or more fights in the same division in out of province competitions will receive 20 Bonus Points.

Funding Amounts

1-8 Fully Funded

9-16 Pay $200

17-24 Pay $400

Over 25 Self Funded

Veteran Funded $200 per athlete

Kata Funded $200

Clubs are welcome to nominate and fund those athletes that are ranked outside of the top 24.
