Matches begin on Friday, August 20 at 9:00 a.m. The courts will open at 7:00 am for players to warm-up.The detailed match schedule is available in TennisLink.(Instructions on how to access schedule is attached)

The team Coach/Manager registers the team. Log onto TennisLink Team Tennis:

3. Enter the registration number that correlates with your team’s division

4. Enter your team number

5. Click 'Proceed to Check out' or click 'Add More Teams' to add more teams

Indicate the number of players, click proceed to check out. Once this is completed and your tournament fee is paid, your team will be registered for the championships. Contact your USTA District Coordinator for additional information or assistance.

Entry Fee: $150.00 per team*

*If team withdraws after August 8, team will forfeit entry fee.

Team Coach/Manager must turn in all forms during this time which include photo release forms and medical release form. These forms can be found on the website and can be faxed into the USTA Section office at 703-556-6175 or they can be brought completed to the tournament and submitted with the team line-up.

Group Room Rate: $ 75 per night

Hotel Reservation deadline for teams is Friday, August 6. There is a limited amount of blocked rooms at the reduced rate. Coaches/Captains/Parents are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible.

The reservations need to be made by contacting the hotel directly at 540.368.8000. We ask you to make reservations by calling the hotel directly. Do not make reservations on-line or through the global 800 number. Please provide the front desk agent with our group code: CGRUSTA

Substitutions

Teams must be registered before any substitutions can be made. Once your team is registered and your team total drops below 6,ONLY then will a request for a substitution be considered and must be submitted to Section Manager by August 8,2010. If your team total drops below 6, team captains/coaches or a team representative may submit the names of the player/s that you would like evaluated as possible substitutions. No more than two substitutions can be made and substitutes can only be taken from your local program and must have played in 3 local matches and meet the age requirement.

Schedule

  • Matches start at 9:00 am each day. The courts will open at 7:00 am for players to warm-up.

The detailed match schedule is available on TennisLink.

  • The draw is a blind draw and we do not offer special consideration with regards to scheduling such that we can maintain equality for all teams attending. The tournament director also reserves the right to change the schedule depending on championship play duration and weather conditions.
  • All match lineups must be submitted to the tournament desk by the team coach or manager 30 minutes before the start of play. Penalties will be enforced at the tournament director’s discretion for late match lineups.
  • Matches may be called earlier whenever courts are available and it is the responsibility of team coaches and their players to be ready to play whenever their match is called.
  • Penalties for being late will be implemented from the Friend At Court guidelines.
  • Will play the girls and boys doubles first.

Scoring Format

  • The scoring format for 8 and under division will be best of 3 games, 1st to 7 points wins game; 1st to win 2 games; Each player serves twice (Drop & hit not allowed) Switch sides after each game.
  • The scoring format for 10 and under division will be best of 3 short sets, 1st to 4 games(no-ad scoring) with 3rdset: 12 point tiebreaker (1st to 7 win by 2)
  • The scoring format for 12-18 under division will be best of 3 short sets; 1st to 4 games (no-ad scoring) with a 12 point tiebreak at 3-all; 3rdset will be a 10 point tiebreaker

  • The scoring format may be altered at the tournament director’s discretion depending on championship play duration and weather conditions. The winner of each age group and division will be determined by the total games won. In the event that the flights are tied, a winner will be determined by 1). If two teams are tied, head to head results 2) If two teams are still tied, the team’s coach will designate a girl and a boy to play a mixed doubles match tiebreak for the match

Awards

  • Awards will be presented to the first and second placed teams after all scores for the flight or division have been entered into TennisLink and verified.
  • Sportsmanship awards will be presented for the QuickStart division and for the 12-18 age divisions. Teams that exemplify sportsmanship, fair play, competitiveness, teamwork and leadership will receive the distinguished sportsmanship team award.
  • Winners of the 14 & 18 Under Intermediate and Advanced divisions will advance to Nationals in Surprise, Arizona.

Medical and Photo Release

  • A medical and photo release must be submitted for each player by August 8, 2010. Any player who does not submit a medical and photo release will not be allowed to play at Section Championships. Please find the Medical and Photo Release on the MAS website or CLICK HERE! These may be emailed back or faxed into the office at 703-556-6175. The team captain or coach may send all signed forms for each player on the team together or parents/players may submit individually, with appropriate consent. (Forms can be given in during Captain’s meeting.)
