SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Medical Education, the Manager is responsible for monitoring the human resources, fiscal, supervisory, and information systems aspects of academic affairs administration and taking appropriate actions.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1.Monitor and respond to the aspects of employment of the personnel in the Department of Academic Affairs including but not limited to employment requirements, time and attendance, salary & benefits, etc.

2.Develop an annual budget for recommendation to the Graduate Medical Education Committee and JPS Administration.

3.Monitor the implementation of the annual budget, including monthly reconciliation of all Academic Affairs Cost Centers including but not limited to Academic Affairs Administration, GME Program cost center, and research.

4.Assures compliance of staff with mandatory institutional education requirements.

5.Establish and implement financial protocols for grants and other sources of funding for research and other scholarly activities.

6.Prepare accurate reports and information requests pertaining to funding from federal (Medicare/Medicaid) and state (THECB) agencies and from participating teaching hospitals.

7.Analyze, plan and implement an efficient academic information network, departmental policies, and other processes.

8.Establish and continuously enhance communication with JPS departmental educational personnel.

9.Oversees the day to day operations of the Department.

10.Completes special projects as assigned.

11.Adheres to District Policies and Procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree

Financial/Business experience preferred

Healthcare setting experience preferred
