  1. Previous Meeting Notes TC summarised the key action points from the previous meeting.
  • We had installed a hand sanitising station in the waiting room
  • The new receptionist has received further training
  • We were in the process of appointing a nurse.
  1. Patient Issues
  • The PRG members had very positive feedback on the speed of service and the availability of our GPs. They felt the surgery was well organised and retained a personal feel in the way it operates.
  1. Surgery Future TC explained this would be his last meeting but he and Dr Arora were continuing to introduce changes to the surgery to consolidate its future

We had made the following appointments :

-Jane Arnesen (currently Receptionist and HCA) is to become the Practice Supervisor

-Dr Bhaskar Bora (Elmdene Surgery) is now Dr Arora’s partner. JWMC is part of the Elmdene Group of Surgeries effective 1st April.

-Dr Nausheen Jilani has been appointed as a salaried GP and will be doing four mornings each week from 20th April

-A new nurse – Sarah Palmer –was being appointed. Until she is on board we will continue to receive cover from other surgeries

-We have recruited a new experienced Receptionist : Nicoll Montilla

Dr Arora will be doing less sessions from 20th April, details to be confirmed. Dr Bora will continue to do Tuesday afternoons.

The new partnership will ensure the Practice continues to flourish and provide a service to this community. The amount of GP and Nurse time available to patients will be maintained and if needed increased.

  1. On Line Services A concern was raised that a wide scale uptake of on-line services could impact Reception jobs. TC responded that the surgery aimed to grow and the current team of Receptionists were essential to the surgery going forward.
  1. CQC We had not received the expected visit. Dr Arora believed it was because we had been a consistently high performing surgery across all of the key measures the commission would examine. We will get a visit, it is likely to be later this year.
  1. Flu Season We were pleased to report that this surgery has the highest take up in this area (36 practices) among over 65s for the flu vaccination and second highest amongst patients with chronic illnesses. Over 80% in both cases.
  1. PhysiotherapistHas moved his session (again) and has reverted to all day on Tuesdays. Still providing a great service.
  1. Practice Surveys We have carried out our annual survey and are waiting for the results. We have also started the Friends and Families Test. The first return of 29 cards saw 25 patients saying they would definitely recommend this surgery to their friends and families.
