The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper and should contain at least 100 and at most 200 words. It should be set in 9-point font size Times New Roman and should be inset 1.0 cm from the right and left margins. There should be two blank (10-point) lines before and after the abstract.

1. Introduction

Increasingly, consumers tend to worry about the safety and origin of foods. Recent scandals related to the safety and origin of foods, sometimes overreacted to by the press, have fundamentally shaken consumer confidence in foodstuffs available at shops (Lakner 2005).

In the framework of our research, we developed a research portal that is meant to support research work applied in the meat industry, specifically pertaining to planned modern quality control and tracing systems and to the publication of the knowledge base connected with the topic.
