Pre-Class Preparation

For the first class, please do the items on the following list. If you don’t feel comfortable attempting something, bring it to class and I’ll be glad to show you what to do.

  1. Label plastic bags as follows: AE1, AE2, AE3 (Lone Star), BL1, BR1, BL2, BR2, B3
  2. Cut out the papers for the units and place them in the correct bags. We will need AE1 and AE2 for the first class.
  3. Place fabric swatches for the fabrics you are using in the charts on P. 6 and P. 15. If you feel comfortable, you can also do the Lone Star on P. 9. We’ll go over that during the first class.
  4. From Fabric AE1 (background for the snowflake in the center of the quilt), cut four 8 ¾” by WOF strips. Place them in a stack, right sides up and put them in the AE1 bag (when the pieces are cut, some will go in Bag AE1, and some in Bag AE2). If you wish, you can cut out the individual pieces using the templates, but we will go over this in class.
  5. From Fabric AE2 (accent fabric around the star), cut two 11” by WOF strips. Place them in a stack, right sides up. Put them in Bag AE1. You can cut the individual pieces, if desired.
  6. From Fabric AE3, or Fabrics AE3a and AE3b, cut one 9” by WOF strip. If you have two fabrics, stack them right sides up. Place them in Bag AE1.
