- The same costume must be worn for 2/3 events in the 3-part pageant.
- Novice contestants will perform Basic Strut in place of Super X Strut.
- No interview for novice pageant contestants.
Maryland State Scholarship
The NBTA MD Chapter offers a scholarship to a senior in high school or college student.
Requirements: (1) Contestant must be a permanent Maryland resident (attending a Maryland college, university, or institute of higher learning does not qualify you as a resident; (2) Contestant must enter all 4 Scholarship events; (3) Contestant must mail official sealed transcript to:

Transcripts must be sent directly from the school to be considered.
***We will not accept hand deliveries, signature required deliveries, or email. Unsealed transcripts will be discarded. You must compete in all four events to be considered for the award.
Determination of Winner: The award is given to the twirler acquiring the lowest points in the following categories (25% each): transcript; solo; super X; and interview. Placements equal points (ex. 1st place = 1 point). Ties will be broken in the following order: solo, transcripts, super X, interview. The check will be made payable directly to the educational institution – no exceptions.
GENERAL INFORMATION
All current NBTA rules will prevail. Judges will officiate. Judges’ decisions are final.
Age ruling: Contestants’ age as of 9/01/2017 will be their competition age.
Order of appearance: For all 3-part events: Modeling – P; Strut – X; Solo – F
State events start with letter K
Reporting to lane: Contestants are responsible for reporting to their lanes on time. Any conflicts must be reported to the lane. Failure to do so will result in a 2.0 penalty. Once a lane is closed, it will not be reopened.
Pictures: No flash photography. You may video only your own child, student, team or group.
Awards presentation: Awards will be in costume at the conclusion of the contest. All 2017 Miss Majorette of Maryland/Pageant winners will take a “walk of recognition” prior to awards.
Open event awards: Open events will be posted after the equivalent 3-part or state event has been completed.
Score sheets: All 3-part and State Event score sheets (unless posted) will be distributed at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. A 15-minute discrepancy period be will allotted. Please check papers carefully and report any discrepancies to the contest director during that time.
