Activity 5.1

The visual that I have chosen to evaluate is the Computer Technician web site. The reason I chose this site is because it is familiar to me and I think it has a lot of the visuals that are needed to be discussed. The Computer Technician web site can be found at www.wcskillcenter.org/computertech.html.

Now let’s discuss the overall pattern of the visual. The alignment of the visual is acceptable. It is aligned to the left side of the page, not in the center, but follows the rule of thirds. There are links to other classes that are offered by the Skill Center, pictures of signs on a white background with green lettering with lots of plants and the school building in the background. There is also an e-mail icon and link with phone number and address information. This visual also employs computer graphics. The style of the visual is consistent with the pictures and lettering of the visual in that there are many different sizes of lettering color schemes—red letters on a white background and also blue lettering on a white background. The information is arranged in close proximity to the related elements of the visual such as information that is on a light background where the letters run across at the top of a picture which has pictures of computers in front of a dark background. Also there is the same kind of display at the bottom of this arrangement which gives information on a link. The directionals of this visual does not use arrows but uses key words—employing bold type, color and size of the bold type. There is also computer technical support available 24 hours a day for those who need help. Also at the bottom of the page there are links to the course outline and news related to computers and electronics.
