RepublicServicesofFlorida,dbaSouthlandWasteSystemsandSeaboardWaste Systems, isthrilledtointroduceitsnewestoperatingdivision,RepublicServices Recycling Center.Locatedat7000ImesonRoadjustoffInterstate295,thefacility itselfis70,000 squarefeetandhasafootprintof14acres.It’sthefirstRegionalMaterialsRecovery Facility(MRF)tobedesigned andbuiltfromthegroundupincompanyhistory.
A truesingle-stream facility,this willbeoneof themost technologically advanced processing linesontheEastCoast. The designincludes3 optical sorters, used forsortingplastics 1 through 7and it even has an optical sorter foraseptic packaging, whichyouseeinboxed juicesandboxedsoups. Screens,magnets and
otherequipment identifyandseparatedifferentkindsofpaper,metals,glassand plastics.Thistechnologycontributestoitsability toprocess35tonseveryhour,makingit easiertoputthesematerialsbackintonewproductsinashorttimeframe.

Ourtechnologyintherecyclingfieldis expandingatarapidpace.Weneedtostayaheadofthecurveinthetechnology racetoservetheneedsofourcustomerssotheycanexpandtheircurrentrecycling programs.Our recent exampleofthisisour abilitytoacceptasepticpackaging,juice andmilkboxes,somethingthathasnotpreviouslybeenallowedinresidentialor schoolrecyclingprograms.
