1985 to 1992: Director Healthful Living Section North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (Note: First three years was the Assistant).
1981 to 1985: Assistant Professor of HPE at George Mason University. Co-Director of a Youth Sports and Fitness Camp, Director of Dance and Activities for the "Health Education Project for Older Adults", and Director of an American Folk Dance Group.
1976 to 1981: Instructor of HPE at Northern Illinois University, Research Coordinator and Elementary Physical Education Teacher in the DeKalb County Elementary School's Youth Fitness Intervention Program, "Project-Go-For-It."
1974 to 1976: Supervisor of HPE and Driver Education, K-12, Hanover County Public Schools, Virginia and Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University Teaching Elementary PE Classes.

-“J. Marshall Crews Distinguished Faculty Award” by the Past Chairs Council of the UNCW Alumni Association. Given in recognition to those who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of university service, student support efforts, leadership, and community service and outreach. August 21, 2003.
