“We have seen an increasing acknowledgement and understanding of the relationship that exists between public telephone networks and private data networks, and

of the potential security threat this relationship carries to data networks,” said Lee Sutterfield, president of SecureLogix.

“Two years ago we began to develop technology to help end-user organizations assess their exposure to and protect themselves against this threat. Our new international operation will help us to continue, on a global scale, our twofold mission of raising awareness of this potential threat and of proliferating our technology to assist organizations in protecting their data networks,” Sutterfield said.

Due to the existing lack of operational visibility and control over private telephony networks in many enterprises, it is possible for any user to connect an entire private data network to the public telephone network, simply by plugging in a modem. Whether installed for remote access convenience, as a method for accessing external data sources or for espionage, improperly secured modems provide access to data networks -- through the telephone network -- in a manner that completely circumvents data network security measures. In many cases, an enterprise never realizes an attack has occurred until the damage is already done. SecureLogix provides technology, products and services to assist organizations in assessing and eliminating this risk.

“The timing for us to launch into the international market is right in line with the goals of our strategic plan,” said Craig Heilmann, chief operating officer of SecureLogix. “A substantial portion of the leads we are receiving to date are from international sources, it became evident that now was the time to expand into that market” said Heilmann.

Peter Boxall, Principle, Strategic Alliance Services, who serves as security consultant to SecureLogix and companies such as Cisco and Secure Highway, states that “Europe, and especially the United Kingdom, is hungry for the technology that SecureLogix is bringing to the security market, filling a gap in technology solutions for security.”

Another area that has shown considerable interest is South Africa. Through its strategic partnership with Netcom Solutions, the SecureLogix™ TeleWall® for telephone lines has made its debut in South Africa. The relationship with Netcom Solutionsdates back to the WheelGroup Corporation, the previous company Lee Sutterfield, president of SecureLogix and Rick Jordan, chief financial officer of SecureLogix, founded. Before the sale of WheelGroup for $124 million to Cisco in 1998, Netcom Solutions was instrumental in the deployment of the WheelGroup’s signature product, the NetRanger intrusion detection technology.
