JOBS for NHS / STUCO Parent/Teacher Conferences Meals October 27, 2011

LUCY – Look over this and add any details you remember from doing this last year. We also need to decide (with STUCO) where we will get food this year. Trattoria was expensive but very tasty. It cost us $1000 last year (STUCO $500 and NHS $500), and that did not include anything but the 2 types of pasta, bread and salad.

PLANNING

PURCHASING and PICKING UP ITEMS – This week and next. Arrival to SHS by 3pm.

1.  Purchase utensils for use that evening:

  1. Cups 150
  2. Dinner Plates 150 (sturdy plastic or Styrofoam)
  3. Dessert Plates 150
  4. Salad bowls 150
  5. Forks/Knives (sturdy plastic) 150
  6. Napkins 150
  7. Placemats 150 disposable (white)

2.  Purchase table dressing for use that evening:

  1. Plastic Table Cloths (7 extra large – preferably yellow or blue)
  2. Clear plastic frames for menus (6)

3.  Purchase additional food products for use that evening

  1. Individual Butter / margarine from Sam’s (150)
  2. Lemonade (1 can of powdered mix)
  3. Tea (1 box of tea bags)
  4. Coffee? (1 large can)
  5. Serving gloves (1 box medium size) for food prep workers

4.  Purchase cakes from Costco to serve 125 (half sheet serves 50, so 1 chocolate and 1 vanilla, then a quarter sheet of either flavor) and deliver to SHS by 3pm

5.  Pick up food by 3pm at the latest from Trattoria Giuseppe

PREPARATION – Between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.

1.  Have ovens on to keep food and extra trays warm

2.  Bring a cooler lined with plastic to fill with ice from SHS machine

3.  Print off menus for the evening

4.  Salad trays in fridge

5.  Bread sliced

6.  Cake cut into 125 equal pieces

7.  Make tea and lemonade (and coffee?)

8.  Set tables with tablecloth, place settings, flower vase, menu frame

DURING

Serving from 4:00pm to 5:30pm and perhaps a little beyond.

1.  Waiters and waitresses – take food and drink orders, serve teachers, check on refills, offer dessert

2.  Kitchen workers – continue to keep an eye on ice supply, drinks supply, and food supply

3.  Bussers – clear away trash, used plates/cups/utensils, ensure each place setting is replaced and clean for the next teacher.

4.  Food Prep – Fill orders from waiter/waitresses, use gloves when handling food and putting it on plates, keep hair back in ponytail or net, keep food warm, keep an eye on amounts served per person, slice bread as needed, begin brewing coffee at 4:00pm

CLEAN UP

5:30pm until 6:15pm

1.  Store any leftover food in the main office refrigerator, or send with teachers / sponsors

2.  Refrigerate leftover butter / margarine

3.  Dump out ice, clean out cooler and return to owner

4.  Salvage any tablecloths or placemats and return to STUCO or NHS storage

5.  Take any unused utensils to STUCO or NHS for storage

6.  Remove all trash from tables and room and put in large hallway trashcans

7.  Move tables and chairs back to FACS room and arrange appropriately

8.  Do any dishes (serving utensils, pitchers, etc.)

9.  Clean counters, wipe down any prep areas

10.  Return the NHS flower vases back to Bambini’s closet

11.  Collect the plastic menu frames and return to STUCO or NHS storage

NHS members will obtain community service hours as follows:

1.  Purchasing utensils in increments of 50 – 1 hour of community service (3 hours possible)

2.  Purchasing one of two table dressing items in increments indicated – 1 hour of community service (2 possible)

3.  Purchase additional food products in increments indicated – 1 hour of community service (5 hours possible)

4.  Pick up cake from Costco – 1 hour of community service (2 people maximum)

5.  Pick up food from Trattoria Giuseppe – 1 hour of community service per person (3 people maximum)

6.  Preparation from 3:00pm to 4:00pm – 1 hour of community service

7.  Serving from 4:00pm to 5:30pm – 2 hours of community service

8.  Clean up from 5:30pm to 6:15pm – 1 hour of community service

9.  Officers will need to be here from 3pm to 6pm and will get 3 hours of community service.

10.  It is possible to “double up” and get hours for doing several jobs.
