Main Accountabilities

  • To establish and provide an accessible benefits advice service to those affected by poverty living within Peterhead and surrounding areas. To assist in developing responsive and effective systems of service to address those requirements.
  • Taking responsibility for day to day management of money advice work
  • Undertake detailed casework including multiple debt problems
  • Maintaining detailed statistics of individual debt cases
  • Providing regular reports on functioning and development of the Project in accordance with ESF requirements
  • To keep records of benefit income raised, levels of debt and other statistics for project reporting

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Foyer Learning and Housing teams in coordinating tailored person centred support
  • Supervising training and supporting team members dealing with money advice enquiries

Internal Liaison

  • To liaise with other Foyer staff as appropriate to ensure a comprehensive and efficient administration service
  • In co-operation with other staff, to offer home visits to people who would otherwise have difficulty accessing the service
  • Attending at team/staff meetings as required

External Liaison

  • To liaise with external organisations and individuals as required in relation to meetings, correspondence and enquiries
  • Working co-operatively with Money Advisers in other agencies within the local area, in the production of reports and strategies to improve the provision of money advice.
  • Positive and effective liaison with other agencies, community groups

Other

  • Maintaining expertise in relevant legislation e.g. welfare rights, debt and bankruptcy
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of Aberdeen Foyer
  • To participate in identified training and development opportunities
  • To carry out other relevant duties as may be required from time to time that are broadly consistent with the job description but are not included in it
