Job Title: Youth Employment and Attainment Worker

Place of Work: Fuse Youth Café Glasgow

Salary:£21,000 Full time 35 hours

Contract:March 2015

Responsible to: Project Manager

A full-time Youth Employment and Attainment Worker will develop partnerships with local schools, public and private sector to deliver alternative accreditation opportunities, plan careers events and deliver social enterprise programmes.

This Worker will deliver an employment skills programme comprising of a job club - teaching skills in CV writing; job applications and interviewing. Links will be made to other training providers for vocational training programmes and as well as linking to Jobcentre Plus; Skills Development Scotland; and Jobs & Business Glasgow for external support. Links will be made to the volunteer coordinator for volunteer training and liaising with SCVO for Community Jobs Scotland opportunities

Job Role:

  • To promote involvement in the Fuse Achieve programme through suitable marketing and links with local volunteering organisations generating appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the organisational needs.
  • To develop programmes and partnerships in line with the overall aim of Fuse but in particular to the aims of the Fuse Achieve programme.
  • To develop effective relationships with all relevant agencies and to promote the programme
  • To ensure maximum awareness amongst service users, local communities and other agencies/professionals of the Fuse Achieve Programme.
  • To actively research and keep up to date with current Scottish government reports and strategies on young people with regards to achievement and employment.
  • To accurately collate service user information and maintain records.
  • Produce timely project reports when requested against agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records including handbooks, policies and agreements.
  • Support and Supervision of the Youth arts and Youth Issues workers.
  • Participate in regular supervision and appraisal reviews with line Manager.
  • To participate in staff training and development.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Project Manager for the benefit of Fuse.

  • Strong communication and listening skills both written and oral.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Skills in effective and efficient time management.
  • Proven ability to work with young people
  • Previous experience of working of developing partnerships
  • Ability to act in a calm and professional manner.
  • Strong management skills offering ability to effect change and evaluate results.
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects and responsibilities
  • IT literacy.
  • Ability to learn from experience.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of employability and or Social Enterprise
  • Working knowledge of Youth Achievement awards
  • knowledge of Health and safety,
  • Exp with young people and adults
  • Experience of making funding applications
  • Understanding of and commitment to the voluntary sector.
