Main purpose of role:

To manage volunteers within the local community to maximise financial contribution for, and raise awareness of fundraising, for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Recruiting, managing, motivating and retaining volunteers in the Midlands & Angliafor the purpose of successfully running an events portfolio.
  • Recruiting new Volunteers and Volunteer Committees to fundraise for the charity.
  • Providing account management support to named Branches and affiliated groups for the purpose of fundraising.
  • Actively engaging with volunteers, branches and supporters, spending the majority of time in the field.
  • Project management of national development initiatives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

1. Volunteer Fundraising:

  • To work with the Senior Manager of Volunteer Fundraising to develop and implement a volunteer fundraising strategy to build a sustainable volunteer fundraising network.
  • Create an Area Volunteer Structure with compelling volunteering opportunities that will deliver the organisations key priorities.
  • To identify the key skills and attributes required of volunteer fundraisers, and to recruit, manage, motivate and retain volunteer individuals, groups and committees.
  • Ongoing management of volunteers including monitoring volunteer performance and identifying effective methods of motivation.
  • Manage a network of warm/cold supporters across the area providing support with fundraising activities.
  • To ensure that high-quality supporter relationship management is maintained for all volunteers and supporters and participants.

2. Branches and Committees

  • To act as account manager to support named branches within the region providing:
  • Point of contact for advice and support on fundraising matters
  • Advice and guidance on fundraising activities
  • Face-to-face contact as appropriate.
  • To recruit an agreed number of new fundraising committees in the region during the financial year.

3. Business Planning and Operations

  • Manage and deliver an agreed income and expenditure budget.
  • Monitor income and expenditure variances and implement solutions to rectify them if appropriate.
  • Write and deliver an annual Business Plan for the Fundraising Volunteer programme
  • Ongoing usage of Raisers Edge database to support fundraising activity and to ensure a high level of service to our volunteers/supporters.
  • Produce detailed, accurate and timely reports on performance against income and key targets.
  • Work with Operations Managers to ensure all donations from region are banked and thanked.
  • Work with colleagues across the organisation to maximise value of all opportunities.
  • Project management of national development initiatives.

4. Initiative

  • Initiative in maintaining good relationships with other staff within the charity to assist in joint working, strengthen communication, solve problems and to ensure that the Charity’s objectives are met.
  • Initiative in maintaining a high level of sensitivity and tact when liaising directly with people affected by muscular dystrophy.
