Job title: Sessional Sports Tutor – Football Specialist.

Department: Skylight Croydon

Reporting to: Learning Manager

Aim

  • Deliver a range of training and guidance to homeless and vulnerable people in order to encourage life long learning.

Circumstances

  • A satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for this role.
  • This is a part time role (2 – 8 hours per week)
  • A FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (or equivalent) is necessary for this role.

Salary

  • £22.25 per hour

Principle Accountabilities

  1. Recruitment and assessment
  • Recruit and select learners on the basis of need
  • Undertake initial, formative and summative assessment of learners, and respond accordingly
  • Create and administer pre-post entry assessments which inform the development of training & learning plans taking into account individual needs, styles and interests.
  1. Teaching and learning support
  • Teach and support learning in accordance with best practice for the client group
  • Plan, reflect and review each learner’s programme on a regular basis
  • Prepare and use suitable and good quality learning materials
  • Prepare learning documentation in accordance with standard Crisis practice
  • Establish and maintain standards of conduct with and for the learners
  • Support the learners in receiving and upholding their entitlements
  • Adhere to departmental policies when dealing with aggressive or challenging behaviour
  • Ensure all learning activity aids the progression of individuals and future development plans drawn up
  • Implement blended learning integrating online and classroom teaching if required
  1. Certification and quality assurance
  • Assess the learners’ progress and attainment against the standards set for the programme
  • Make and keep appropriate assessment records
  • Liaise as required with internal moderators and other representatives of awarding bodies
  • Maintain and provide required records for accountability purposes
  • Source and maintain accreditation procedures and associated paperwork
  • Fulfil accreditation requirements and administer and assess examinations

  • Develop and share teaching and learning materials with the team
  • Participate in professional development activities as required.
  • Promote well-being and development of the organisation internally and externally

  • Actively encourage and support member involvement within CrisisDevelop and share teaching and learning materials with the team and with other Skylight centres

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Crisis’ work and the needs and circumstances of homeless people
  • Comply with Crisis policies and procedures, including Health and Safety policies, for which all employees owe a duty of care both to themselves and others, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job

Person Specification

Essential

  1. A FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (or equivalent) is necessary for this role.
  2. Hold or be working towards practical teaching or coaching qualifications
  3. Delivering sportsprogrammes and working with minimal support with challenging behaviour and clients with complex needs.
  4. Engaging vulnerable clients in sports programmes
  5. Source materials
  6. Peripatetic teaching
  7. Experience managing volunteers who may have their own specific support needs.
  8. A capacity both to work on your own, in teams and a willingness to reflect upon and develop own practice.
  9. A passion for learning and enjoyment of creativity and innovation.
  10. A willingness to undertake training as required
  11. Skills in one or more of the following:-
  12. Sport – football and at least one other discipline.
