JOB TITLE: Senior Development Officer: Action on Prejudice

REPORTING TO: Development Manager, National Programmes

DIRECT REPORTS: None

MAIN PURPOSE:

To lead and manage the development and delivery of the Action on Prejudice programme in order to effectively deliver the organisation’s objectives.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • To procure and manage the services of a suitable web company for the development and maintenance of the web platform.
  • To ensure digital channels are mobile-friendly, quality assured and meet the highest standards of access and usability in line with national policy and practice and supporting YouthLink Scotland’s Investors in Diversity status.
  • To co-produce new design and content for the young people’s channel with young people and accredit their achievement through the delivery of the Participative Democracy Certificate at SCQF Level 5.
  • To engage with stakeholder groups and share relevant content, including resources, videos etc. to the site and convert to web-enabled and interactive formats where appropriate.
  • To oversee the polling and research functionality of the site, and ensure public feedback and consultation drives content.
  • To deliver thematic and local hub development around the protected characteristics.
  • To deliver marketing and effective communications on Action on Prejudice, its content and support the work of other PECF funded projects.
  • To deliver AoP Live sessions, engaging schools, youth clubs and key partners.
  • To provide monitoring and key performance reporting on Action on Prejudice and effectively communicate the impact on the key equality outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
  • To contribute to the overall strategic and business development of YouthLink Scotland.
  • To work collaboratively with partners and other YouthLink Scotland staff across the organisation in order to deliver effective and integrated services.
  • To represent the organisation in key meetings and networks with members, key stakeholders and external partners.
  • Other duties as delegated by the Senior Management Team.

  • Understanding of media, marketing, publications and communications.

  • Understanding of the community safety and justice sector, including equalities work around all protected characteristics.

Please note that within the normal duties of this post you will be required to carry out regulated work with children. This will include;

  • Instructing, training or supervising children/young people
  • Unsupervised contact with children/young people under arrangements made by a responsible person
  • Providing advice or guidance to children/young people which relates to physical or emotional well-being, education or training
  • Moderating a public electronic interactive communication service which is intended for use wholly or mainly by children.

YouthLink Scotland is registered with Disclosure Scotland. Individuals carrying out regulated work with children within YouthLink Scotlandwill be asked to become members of the PVG Scheme.

YouthLink Scotlandwill require the successful applicant to submit a Scheme Record/Scheme Record Update application which will be returned to and processed by the Senior Manager with responsibility for PVG.

NB: It is illegal for a person to undertake regulated work if they are barred from doing so.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This post is funded through the Promoting Equalities and Community Cohesion Fund at Scottish Government. The contract with Scottish Government for this post terminates on 30th June 2020. The salary for the post will be circa £31k pro rata

The post will be based at the YouthLink Scotland offices in Edinburgh. Travel and subsistence allowances will be paid, based on relevant NJC rates. The normal working week is 35 hours. By its nature, the post will sometimes require work to be undertaken during evenings and weekends. A willingness to work unsocial hours is therefore essential.

Annual holiday entitlement will be 25 days plus 12 public holidays (Pro Rata). A system of time off in lieu applies for hours worked over and above the normal working week.
