Introduction

Finsbury Park Homeless Families Project (FPHFP) has been helping homeless families and families in crisis for nearly 30 years, working with people in Haringey, Hackney and Islington. Last year the project joined the Newlon Group as a subsidiary of Outward to ensure we can continue with our work and expand into new areas,

This year we have received funding to deliver an innovative project (Progression Pathways) to develop peer mentoring as a model for engaging hard to reach homeless families. The project will also help FPHFP to develop its overall service capacity. This includes building a track record, monitoring performance, fundraising and strengthening relationships with other organisations in the area.

This is a two year project. Funding has been obtained to cover the full costs of year 1 and half the cost of year 2. We will be looking to secure the remaining funding for year 2.

We are now seeking a Project Manager to initiate the project and drive it through to completion. In addition, the postholder will contribute towards the development of FPHFP as a whole. This is an exciting project that will be a great opportunity for the successful applicant to build upon their current skills and make a real difference in the homelessness sector.

Responsible to: the Management Committee of Finsbury Park Homeless Families Project. Day to day line management structure will be confirmed by the interview stage.

Main job Purpose

The purpose of this post is;

to oversee the recruitment and development of peer mentors and to manage the overall performance of the project and the communication of this performance to internal and external parties.

Duties:

·  To manage all aspects of the Progression Pathways project, including; monitoring, evaluation, reporting and delivering against targets.

·  To manage the post of advice case worker who will also be employed to deliver this project.

·  To arrange training for peer mentors and ensure that they complete their qualification.

·  To communicate with and promote the project to external organisations, in particular potential funders and local authorities.

·  To ensure the successful implementation of new monitoring software for this project and contribute towards its implementation across FPHFP’s complete services.

·  To keep abreast of all relevant legislation, social policy, trends and issues affecting homeless families, asylum seekers, refugees and advice services, e.g. CLS and Quality Mark; and attend any relevant training courses within an agreed budget.

·  To attract and recruit potential peer mentors, ensuring that they are capable of benefiting from and engaging with the project.

·  To work with the Fundraiser at FPHFP in securing the additional funding that will be required in order to continue the project beyond year 1.

·  To arrange and chair weekly peer mentor meetings and monthly steering group meetings.

General Duties

·  To be flexible and to provide a support for colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Project

·  To meet regularly with and report as required to the designated line manager for the project, and take part in supervision and appraisal .

·  To work within an agreed budget and follow the Project’s financial guidelines and procedures

·  To take an active role in the Project, and attend staff meetings, steering groups, planning meetings and Management Committee meetings as appropriate.

·  To supervise and support volunteers and sessional staff as required.

·  To share information with staff team

·  To assist in review and development of the Project’s policies and planning

·  To be self-servicing with regards to typing and administration

QUALIFICATIONS
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject / ü
