Job title:Payroll Manager

Grade:Band 3 Point 15 £24,998

Responsible to:Finance Manager

Key internal relationships: Assistant Director of Finance- point of contact for Payroll Manager, general support of your day to day role, escalation of queries where required.

Internal teams – liaise with Staff, handling

of payroll and employee queries.

Finance – Ensuring Payroll deduction for HMRC. Pensions - statutory deductions are made and processed through Finance system.

Liaise with the Human Resources team

Key external relationships:Handling queries from auditors, providing payroll reconciliations as required.

Purpose:To manage the monthly and weekly payroll using the current bureau payroll system for the Museum. Responsible for ensuring that all disbursement of wages deductions are made, and interface into the current Museum Financial system. The responsibility covers the payroll process from start to finish, for weekly payroll, checking of timesheets, input of timesheets through the HR portal, checking of input reports and reconcile of Payroll, arranging payment of all disbursements and reconciling of these on a weekly and monthly basis to the financial system. Distribution of payslips and responding to queries from employees and external third party organisations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processing payroll Input.
  • Data Entry, manual and import.
  • Creating timesheet and import upload.
  • Ensuring HR changes are made.
  • Processing new starters and leavers through Payroll.
  • Checking Payrolls.
  • Processing Outputs.
  • Reconciling Payroll Reports.
  • Preparing deduction payments.
  • Processing Journals into Finance.
  • Employee/third party queries.
  • Distribution of payslips
  • Arranging payment of all disbursements and reconciling them on a weekly and monthly basis to the finance system.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Supporting the AOD Finance and other colleagues.
  • Interface with external auditors, and other audits as required.
  • Year End Processing.
  • Keeping up to date with legislation and how they affect Museum and employees as well as developments in payroll software.
  • Fulfilling any objectives and targets set out in annual appraisals.
  • Any other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

General responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador and advocate for Beamish Museum and help to deliver the vision of Beamish’s Business Plan – ‘putting the visitor first’, creating a living, working, open-air museum that tells the story of everyday working life in the North East of England.
  • To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Museum’s Equal Opportunity Policy, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all standing orders, financial regulations and audit management procedures.
  • Undertake such duties as are required from time to time as are commensurate with the grade of the post.
