JOB TITLE:Part Time Unit Manager (Women’s refuge project)

HOURS OF WORK:4 hours per day - £22,000 per annum pro rata

ACCOUNTABLE TO:CEO

REPORTS TO:CEO/HR

1. JOB PURPOSE & OBJECTIVIES

1.1 To be responsible for the management of staff and clients in the 7 bed women’s refuge unit.

1.2 To be responsible for all Health & Safety matters at the home which includes the clients; the building; the staff and to complete all documentation to ensure compliance in all areas under the jurisdiction of the manager.

1.3 To promote and market the service to other professional bodies.

2. ROLE

2.1To communicate on a regular basis/daily operational issues with the CEO at WAITS

2.2Ensure any staffing matters/operational matters are communicated to Servol HR

2.3Ensure that the unit is fully staffed by producing staffing rotas

2.4Ensure the health & safety checks are carried out accurately, timely and all matters needing attention are reported to WAITS CEO

2.5Ensuring that all client case notes are entered accurately and in a timely manner by support workers/self on a day by day or incident by incident method.

2.6Assessing new referrals with WAITS CEO and other WAITS team members as appropriate, to consider the legal/personal/safety of the home by conducting a thorough deep dive into the content of them.

2.7Arrange for new client admissions to be documented and managed by you into the refuge.

2.8To work as a team to ensure that peer training and other courses are conducted regularly with a team approach to execute the activities.

2.9Provide one to one support to clients and work as a team to identify assess and respond to the physical, psychological, educational, emotional and social needsof the women in the refuge; oversee that all staff work to this aim.

2.10Participating and contributing in the Case Notes Meetings with WAITS CEO/staff.

2.11Arrange and supervise the cleaning rota’s for staff and clients to oversee that the property is clean and well maintained both inside and out.

2.12Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment.

2.13Ensure that rent money is collected and stored safety.

2.14Ensure that petty cash receipts and money is kept safely.

2.15Use and check daily the handover book for the refuge and ensure that all matters that require attention are actioned by you.

2.16Ensure that supervisions with staff take place between a 6 – 8 weeks duration to keep good communication and identify any potential work place/personal issues.

2.17Reflect and develop your practice

2.18Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals in the refuge.

2.19Monitor, evaluate and assess as required any reports as requested by the CEO at WAITS or HR at Servol.

2.20To be open and amenable to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of the developing role of Refuge Manager within New Servol.

2.21To liaise with outside agencies providing activities in the accommodation

2.22Undertake any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.

REQUIREMENTS / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE / EVIDENCED BY
QUALIFICATIONS / You will be educated to NVQL4 in management/Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area. / Professional membership
Have undertaken courses/awareness training in: Domestic Violence; Women’s Issues; Self-Harm; Housing Benefits; Probation/Prison Issues. / Interview/CV
EXPERIENCE / Experience of assessing clients to low, medium and high risk to the service.
A grasp of legislation in respect of License Agreements, legislation in relation to early release of prisoners.
Experience of supporting colleagues and/or leading a project or a team. / Experience with a similar project within a charity sector

You will have a good working grasp of IT knowledge and skills suitable – intermediate level.
You will have excellent attention to detail and achieve a high level of accuracy.
Knowledge of current trends and practices relating to a manager in a female refuge home.
A background in promoting a new service with appropriate professionals / To have worked previously in a similar professional environment.
