JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Nights / WeekendsSupport Worker.

Reports To: Support Manager or Senior Support Worker.

Salary:Scale 4, Points 18 – 21, £16,941 - £18,882, per annum, pro rata, plus sleep-in allowance.

Location:Various Locations in Birmingham and North Worcestershire

Hours:Full-time 37.5 hours per week.

Job Purpose:

Providing support at nightand weekends to young people at risk of homelessness to enable them to develop their skills, confidence and opportunities and make a successful transition to adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To assist young people to achieve their support plan goals by helping with life skills or other support needs.
  1. To organise evening and weekend activities including resident meetings.
  1. To assist young people to manage any crises, emergencies and difficulties that may occur out of hours.
  1. To support young people to keep themselves safe.
  1. To offer information, advice, and guidance to colleagues, and in crisis situations, provide emergency cover within your own Project.
  1. To maintain accurate records.
  1. As part of a team to assist in the preparation of accommodation for new residents, which may involve some cleaning duties.
  1. To be involved in the induction of new staff, to supervise and support volunteers, trainees and students.
  1. To take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of young people.
  1. To accept and record any payments made by young people and ensure that they are processed in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

General:

  1. To be responsible for your own health and safety whilst at work, and the health and safety of any other employees or visitors.
  1. The post holder must take responsibility for their own self development and ensure that the knowledge and information they use in their job is current and relevant.
  1. St Basils is dependant upon its ability to raisefunds in order to sustain and develop its work with young people. Therefore all employees are expected to supportthe work of the Fundraising Department and, wherever possible, be involved in Fundraising Events.

Wherever you are initially based, it must be recognised that the company reserves the right, giving reasonable notice, to re-locate the post holder, dependent on the requirements of the Agency, at any time.

Hours of Work:

37.5 hours per week, half hour for lunch. Evening / weekend work is required and will be compensated with time off in lieu in negotiation with Line Manager.

Holidays

25 days per annum, plus 8 Statutory Bank holidays and 3 Concessionary days holidays, pro-rata, per annum.
