Job Analysis

This job analysis is representative of the position. When used for a specific employee, this job analysis must bereviewed with the employee and supervisor and any differences noted on an Addendum page. This analysis is not meant to be a comprehensive description of this position’s duties, but an aid in determining an individual’s ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation.

Section I

Job Summary:

Under supervision, keep an assigned building area clean, sanitary, safe and orderly; perform special cleaning periodically or as required; may do some outdoor cleaning; and do job related duties as required.

Essential Functions / Tasks:

  1. Sweep, mop, scrub and wax floor, including surfaces of many types.
  2. Dust, wax, wash and polish furniture and woodwork.
  3. Clean wall and blackboards/whiteboards.
  4. Clean restrooms, locker rooms and showers.
  5. Wash windows.
  6. Arrange furniture and equipment for special activities.
  7. Inspect buildings and grounds for broken equipment or vandalism and report the need for repairs.
  8. Empty trash and garbage cans.
  9. May sweep concrete surfaces immediately adjacent to the school buildings.
  10. May do minor maintenance tasks to keep assigned area safe and operating.
  11. Participate in thorough cleaning of school plant and facilities during summer vacation and other periods, including some minor painting and simple maintenance duties.
  12. Locks and/or secures windows and doors.
  13. During summer vacation period, may be assigned to intensive cleaning work, including washing walls, moving furniture, stripping and resurfacing gym floors, and similar duties, wherever needed.

Qualifications: Read, write and communicate in the English language.
