JOB TITLE: Depden Care Farm Programme Assistant (Bank)
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director
1. Job Purpose:
To contribute to the day to day running of the farm and deliver high quality, effective and responsive support to enable service users to successfully participate in the day’s programme.
2. Key tasks and responsibilities
1) Supporting service users to successfully and safely participate in the activities and tasks on the farm, according to their recognised and agreed needs and their personal goals.
2) Working one to one with particular service users as required, building a strong working relationship to ensure that they participate actively to the best of their abilities.
3) Adhering to company practice and policy which promotes well-being, choice and treats everyone with dignity and respect.
4) Complying with all safeguarding, health and safety and security policies and reporting accidents and incidents when appropriate.
5) Communicating effectively with individuals according to agreed standards and procedures, accessing and updating records in keeping with guidelines and policy.
6) Assist service users to develop skills and knowledge to live as independently as possible, developing and maintaining social networks and relationships and promoting social inclusion and participation in the local community.
7) Contribute to the development of Depden Care Farm and Millennium Farm Trust which runs it.
8) Develop one’s knowledge and practice continuously through participation in training and development activities.
3. Person Specification
Qualifications/Training/Education:
Essential Good written and spoken English and good numeracy.
Current driving licence
Desirable Qualification in social care, eg SVQ2 or SVQ3
Agricultural or technical certification
First aid certification
Experience:
Essential Experience of working outdoors in agriculture or horticulture or similar setting.
Some experience of working with adults, young people or children with additional needs.
Desirable Experience of animal husbandry, market gardening or growing crops for retail.
Experience of grounds maintenance, hard landscaping and small scale building works.
Skills:
Essential Ability to communicate well with everyone, including people of differing abilities and social skills.
Great team worker and can do approach.
Ability to write clear and succinct reports
Basic IT skills
Desirable Advanced IT skills
Social media skills
Personal Qualities:

4. Conditions of service
Post Programme Assistant (Bank)
Location Depden Care Farm, Rookery Farm, Depden, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 4BU. Travel to other farms and locations will be necessary on occasions. Travel expenses will be paid.
Hours Hours will be 9.00am to 4.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (as agreed and scheduled by the Director).
The days you will be required are dictated by the number of farm helpers requiring support each day. This is likely to be Thursdays in the first instance, but flexibility to work on other days is essential.
Salary £8-£10 depending on skills and experience. Salary is paid one month in arrears by BACS within 5 working days of the last Friday of the month.
