JOB PURPOSE:Support the Finance Manager in the day to day operations of the Finance function

This is a whole academy role.

Skills and Experience

Management Accountant will be part of finance team of three (1x Finance Manager 1x MA and 1x Finance Officer/Apprentice) and be responsible for managing the finance officer/apprentice. He/she is a self-starter and have earned some level of Finance Professional qualification with at least three to five years’ experience in a similar role. He/she should have relevant experience in using small/medium size Accounting Software package and an advanced user of MS Excel and other MS Office. Previous experience in an Education establishment or in a relevant organisation would be an added advantage.

Job role

Support Finance Manager on day-to-day operations of the finance function and will play pro-active role in developing and continuously improving financial system, processes and support the Finance manager in meeting internal and external reporting deadlines.

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of CREST’s Fixed Asset and Contracts Register. Updating and monitoring of contracts. Provide regular monthly feedback on the performance management review of contracts.

Deputise Finance Manager and will primarily liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Work closely with Finance Manager assisting in the preparation of the monthly close down, preparation/internal review of monthly management accounts with commentaries, assisting with hard-closure and completion of year-end tasks and schedules to Trust and external audit. Assist with smooth running of all audit queries, visits and management response.

Liaison with budget holders, providing timely, accurate monthly information. Responsible for monthly Balance Sheet management; reconciling key control accounts.

Support Finance Manager on School’s annual budgeting process, in-year re-budgeting, forecasting, maintaining monthly risks and opportunities register, tracking in-year savings.

Working closely with HR function, preparation and submission of monthly payroll input, ensuring controls review accuracy of the payroll and liaison with external payroll provider.

Support Finance Manager to drive forward compliance of procurement rules, policies. Promoting and ensuring there is clear evidence of value for money.

When required provide support to the Finance Officer, raising purchase orders, entering invoices, generate payment runs.

Support the Finance Manager by maintaining high standards of work ethics, accuracy and professionalism across the network.
