Hours: 37.5 hours per week / job share available

Base: Sustrans offices in central Bristol

Job purpose:

To co-ordinate and support Sustrans behaviour change projects across the UK and to manage the delivery of Sustrans Big Pedal and on-line workplacestravel challenge.

To facilitate the development and sharing of knowledge and understanding of behaviour change methodologies for schools, workplaces and other settings (as required), collaborating with key colleagues across the organisation.

To provide expertise, technical support, quality assurance, Sustrans-wide co-ordination and best-practice sharing across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

Delivery of projects and services:

  1. To be responsible for planning and allocating resources to deliver the Big Pedal and Active Travel Challenge products.
  2. To facilitate sharing of knowledge, understanding and learning of travel behaviour change work in different settings across the UK to support development of Sustrans behaviour change methodologies for schools, workplaces and other settings (as required), collaborating with key colleagues across the organisation.
  3. To providetechnical support and guidance on travel behaviour change during project design, development, planning and delivery.
  4. To be responsible for cross-Sustrans best practice sharing and dissemination across travel behaviour change activity, disseminating learning from both internal and external sources.
  5. To coordinate and develop resources to enhance our behaviour change projects.
  6. To co-ordinate on-going training and support of staff delivering travel behaviour change projects (ensuring that all opportunities for building local capacity are maximised).
  7. To work closely with Research and Monitoring Unit colleagues to build the evidence base for our travel behaviour change work.
  8. To support and comply with the organisation's policy for the management of Data Protection.
  9. To develop and hold relationships with key external partners.

Business development:

  1. To support business development for Sustrans Big Pedal and Active Travel Challenge products.
  2. To contribute to the development of project proposals and bids and participate in bid writing for projects at the direction of own line manager.
  3. To contribute toward the development of new ideas and innovative strategies for product development, marketing, branding, or business opportunities.
  4. To keeps the charity’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other internal information management systems up to date.

Communication and marketing:

  1. To support and comply with the charity’s guidance on branding, tone of voice and key messages, positively contributing towards raising Sustrans’ profile.

People Management:

  1. To line manage the Product Delivery Officer and Project Support Officer, Behaviour Change, planning and allocating resources to deliver Sustrans-wide products.

Training and personal development:

  1. To attend essential Sustrans training as required by the Charity.
  2. To ensure own personal development by working to objectives set as part of the Charity’s appraisal process.

  1. To support and comply with the organisation’s policies for the management of Health and Safety.
  2. To proactively encourage and ensure a positive health and safety culture for all activities on Sustrans and RPL land.

  1. This role may have additional responsibilities as a member of a network of colleagues working on Sustrans-wide oversight of project delivery.

Working conditions:

The postholder will live close to the nominated office base although there may be opportunities to work from home at times. Overnight stays away from home may be necessary when participating in projects away from their designated base. Occasional weekend and late working may be required with time off in lieu. The postholder must be prepared to walk, cycle or use public transport for the majority of work journeys.
