Main Purpose of the Position: The Instructional Aide will act as an assistant to the teacher by preparing classroom materials as requested and monitoring classroom activities during teacher’s break.

List Job Duties:

A.Relieve the teacher at break and at lunch time or at teacher request.

B.Prepare materials as requested by the teacher.

C. Grade student work as requested by the teacher.

D.Work one-on-one or in small student groups as requested by teacher.

  1. Chaperone on field trips as requested by teacher.
  2. Traffic Duty, yard duty as requested by administrator.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist the teacher with preparation of classroom materials.
  2. Monitor class activities while teacher is on break or at lunch.
  3. Traffic Duty, yard duty.

Non-Essential Functions:

Other listed duties may be done by other office staff if necessary

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervision

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in use of Power Point, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work with young children including patient, calm personal style.
  • Excellent role model.

Extent of Public Contact: (Type and frequency)

Daily contact with teachers, coaches, students, parents, guests and school administrators.

Physical Demands: lifting, walking, equipment operations

Must be able to work at a computer and use other office equipment such as fax, copier. No heavy lifting is required or necessary. Must be able to stand for periods of up to one hour.

Working Conditions and Environment: travel, usual work hours, environmental conditions

Work is performed in a school/office environment and outdoors during a regular 40 hour work week. This position may travel on occasion to field trips.
