Job Title: Injunction for Protection (IFP) Staff Attorney

Reports To:Supervising Injunction for Protection (IFP) Attorney

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000based on experience

Days/Hours: 5 positions are available.

Monday – Friday, 9a.m.-6p.m. Flexibility to work weekends and outside of designated shift required ensuring access and availability to services.

Workplace Location(s): Women In Distress’ Jim and Jan Moran Family Center Campus in Deerfield Beach and various satellite locations, as designated.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate degree required from accredited law school
  • Florida licensed attorney in good standing with no prior Florida Bar disciplinary proceedings that resulted in the imposition of any penalty.
  • A minimum of 2 years litigationexperience representing or working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence or experience in family or criminal law preferred.Substantial law school trial advocacy/moot court participation may be substituted for litigation experience.
  • Must understand the sensitivity of working with domestic violence survivors as well as unique circumstances surrounding safety of staff and survivors while in public settings.
  • Bilingual or Multilingual preferred including Spanish, Creole and Portuguese.
  • Valid Florida’s driver’s license. Safe driving record. Proof of automobile liability insurance.

General Job Description:

The IFP Staff Attorney will provide domestic violence survivors counsel if filing an injunction for protection is a safe remedy, and if so, complete and file the ex parte petition for injunction, provide direct representation to survivors of domestic, dating and sexual violence and stalking in temporary and final injunction for protection proceedings and prosecutions of violations of injunctions. Also, in collaboration with the Supervising IFP Attorney, the IFP Staff Attorney will conduct extensive community outreach to minimize systematic barriers in place and increase access to the IFP project and services.

The IFP Staff Attorney will participate in all FCADV led initiatives tied to the IFP Project program including conferences, evaluations, webinars, conference calls and technical assistance visits which may include out of town travel.
