JOB TITLE: Head of Campaigns, Humane and Sustainable Agriculture (HSA)

REPORTS TO: International Director of Humane and Sustainable Agriculture

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

This is a great opportunity and time to help shape, develop and deliver World Animal Protection’s global farming campaigns. This is a senior position within the Humane and Sustainable Agriculture International Programme Team, playing a key role in developing and embedding a culture of campaigning to increase World Animal Protection’s influence and profile. The person appointed will develop and deliver effective and inspiring campaigns to improve the welfare of billions of farm animals.

We want to see a world where every farm – small, medium or large-scale – is designed around the welfare needs of animals. The current reality is very different as the severity of suffering and the numbers of animals involved are immense, which means that the farming of animals for food is probably the biggest source of avoidable animal suffering in the world today. In addition to promoting existing humane and sustainable farming models, our strategy seeks to dramatically change current practice in developed intensive farming systems and promote animal welfare friendly solutions,so that the experience of animals farmed for food is transformed to give them good lives.

We aim to build support for farm animal welfare globally by engaging and moving consumers and target audiences to create a movement for change, drive demand for higher welfare products, hold corporates accountable, and continue to build our legitimacy to sit at global, regional and national tables where international farming policy and practice are decided.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of leading campaigns that stand out, and of working effectively with teams across the world to build and deliver catalytic change. We need a positive, self-starter who can motivate and inspire usingtheir expertise in dynamic and creative campaigning.
