Job Title: Fundraising & Events Intern

Location / Oval, London, SW9 6DE
Duration / 6 months minimum
Commitment / 3 days per week
Reports to / Fundraising & Events Co-ordinator
Department / Fundraising and Communications

Responsibilities:

1.  Handle incoming enquiries regarding fundraising, advising supporters about fundraising ideas, rules and regulations

  1. Issue fundraising materials to supporters

3.  Write letters of thanks to Friends and donors as required

4.  Administer merchandising

  1. Help coordinate bookings & arrangements for events; Wheely Wobbly Bridges Walk, Conferences and Ataxia Awareness week events

6.  Assist with updating fundraising forms, merchandise and information packs as required

7.  Help gather and provide fundraising information, articles and photographs for a range of media including The Ataxian magazine, the website, Facebook / Twitter etc

8.  Contribute to special fundraising initiatives

9.  Essential office administration duties

10. Maintaining and developing relationships with potential customers via telephone calls and email etc.

11. Sourcing raffle prizes

12. Identify new fundraising opportunities

Person Specification:

·  Interest in and enthusiasm for working within the voluntary sector

·  Trustworthy and reliable; discretion in handling sensitive information

·  Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team

·  Excellent written and oral English

·  Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop professional and effective relationships with colleagues and supporters

·  Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel

·  Able and willing to learn new skills and to work to deadlines

·  Support for the ethical use of animals in medical research and human embryonic stem cell research

·  A willingness to travel to fundraising events and a flexible approach to working hours is required

Those volunteering in the office or at events will be reimbursed reasonable travel and subsistence in accord with Ataxia UK’s Expenses Policy. To claim expenses, supporting receipts must be provided.
