Job Title: Fundraising and Development Officer

Reports to: Applause Director

Applause Rural Touring is a registered Charity supporting communities throughout Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex to access professional theatre, music and other performing arts.

Rural touring schemes exist throughout England and Wales and offer life-enhancing experiences to people who often have limited access to the arts because they live outside of major towns and cities where theatres and cultural institutions are concentrated. Applause supports artists and performers to develop their workfor small scale touring opportunities as well as providing support to enable rural communities to access exciting arts performances which can take place in village halls, community centres and at outdoor events for local audiences to enjoy.

Role specification

We are looking to recruit a freelance fundraising and development specialist to support our organisations future growth.

Main areas of activity

1. Research new sources of funds

2. Build core funds

3. Develop an individual donor base including a friends scheme, high net worth (HNW) and legacy giving

4. Develop a database of evidence analytics and supporting information for future funding applications and reporting purposes

5.Support the development of strategic funding bids

1. Research new sources of funds

Identify and match potential funding sources in line with Applause funding strategy.

  • Build a database with key specifications, dates, application procedures
  • Develop a timeline for applications
  • Draft initial applications
  • Have applications ready to go on draw down basis

2. Build Core Funds

Using the research process above identify and apply for core funding.

3. Develop an individual donor base

Builda separate fundraising stream of individual donors –use gift aid, set up web protocols, set up HNW approach and ask, develop the individual ask and set up a Friends of Applause scheme

Work with board members to develop individual programme

4. Analytics and reporting data

Collection and recording of data for report back to funders and stakeholders, develop ‘library and database’ of materials.

5. Research and support the development of strategic funding approaches including the development of proposals e.g. Local Authority commissioning.

Terms and conditions

Freelance contract September 2016 - June 2017

5 days per month £200 daily rate

Working hours are flexible and can be split across days. Ideally the work would take place at the Applause office.

Candidate specification

Essential

  • Experience of charity income generation from individual donors and/or trust and foundations.
  • Administrative experience of donor based giving.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Self motivated and enthusiastic
  • Computer literate

Desirable

  • Knowledge of and interest in the arts
