Aim

  • Project management of a range of event and community fundraising income streamswithin the context of the wider National & Regional Fundraising strategy, Crisis Fundraising Strategy and our five-year Strategic Plan
  • Deliver, on the day, a range of Crisis owned and third party events
  • Contribute to the future development, investment and growth of the team

Dimension

  • Events team income target of £952,000 (16/17)
  • Recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers
  • Liaison with external suppliers, contractors and agencies
  • Liaison with key community and event contacts
  • Liaison with other teams across the Crisis Skylights

Circumstances

  • 35 hours per week.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required and time off in lieu will be given in accordance with Crisis TOIL policy.

The Role

The innovative Crisis Events & Community Team has grown over the last few years introducing high profile Crisis owned events as well as maintaining significant income from various community audiences. We have ambitious plans for the future including new strategies for community income and regional expansion. Thisincludes developing our volunteer fundraising which will rely heavily on the project management skills of our Executives.

Principal accountabilities

As a member of the Crisis Events Team you will work closely with the Events and Community Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising five year strategy. You will maintain and grow income long-term from new and existing supporters and income from existing events.

  • Lead the development and delivery of both events and community fundraising programmes by project managing and contributing across the team’s portfolio
  • Account manage a range of fundraising supporters, developing stewardship journeys to ensure the highest level of care is delivered

Develop and implement new fundraising projects in line with the changing market and development of Crisis

  • Evaluate and monitor income targets against agreed budgets, taking early remedial action to address any shortfall. Ensure an agreed level of ROI and maintain this above the sector average
  • Help deliver the new volunteer fundraising strategy and development of volunteer fundraising groups and networks
  • Assist with regional fundraising activity to ensureincome is maximised, co-ordinated approaches are made to existing and potential supporters and consistent Crisis messages are followed throughout the regions
  • Assist all colleagues in the Community and Events team and work across the department when required
  • Recruit and manage interns and event volunteers to assist with projects when required

General accountabilities

  • Actively encourage and support member involvement within Crisis
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Crisis’ work and the needs and circumstances of homeless people

Person Specification

Essential

  1. At least one year’s experience of project and account management
  2. Experience of organising large-scaleevents
  3. Proven experience of stakeholder management and supporter stewardship
  1. Experience of securing support from external organisations/individuals
  2. Experience of setting up and managing groups of volunteers
  3. Experience of implementing and marketing campaigns, both regionally and nationally
  4. Experience and understanding of customer care processes
  5. Data management and familiarity with relevant software
  6. Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work flexibly, calmly and methodically to tight deadlines and targets, prioritising a varied workload
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  8. Excellent attention to detail, analytical and numeracy skills
  9. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, solving problems effectively
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and knowledge of social media
