Job Title: Eligibility Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education or in a related field,
  • Experience in the field of Special Education,
  • Knowledge in federal and state special education laws and regulations,
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing,
  • Ability to interact effectively with parents, professionals, students, and community agencies,
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with computers and computer programs,
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

Reports to: Director, NNRSEP

Job Goal: to assist participating school divisions in the process of eligibility for Special Education Services through the scheduling and chairing of eligibility meetings (including completion of all appropriate paperwork for the above named duties), and assist in maintaining the Department of Education database (as appropriate) for the participating divisions. Provide necessary reporting information to the Department of Education in school divisions at the determined times, and assist Director of Special Education in school divisions as determined appropriate by the Director of the Northern Neck Regional Special Education Program.

Performance Responsibilities:

ColonialBeach:

  • Create schedule for eligibility meetings
  • Complete appropriate paperwork,
  • Chair eligibility meetings,
  • Provide information from meeting to the local Special Education Director or designee for Department of Education database.

NorthumberlandCounty:

  • Create schedule for eligibility meetings
  • Complete appropriate paperwork,
  • Chair eligibility meetings,
  • Provide information from meeting to the local Special Education Director or designee for Department of Education database.

RichmondCounty:

  • Create schedule for eligibility meetings
  • Complete appropriate paperwork,
  • Chair eligibility meetings,
  • Provide information from meeting to the local Special Education Director or designee for Department of Education database.

LancasterCounty:

  • Provide assistance and information to Lancaster’s Director of Special Education and Special Education Coordinator.

Other duties as specified by the Director of the NNRSEP.

Evaluation: Periodic evaluation and interviews with the NNRSEP Director.

Terms of Employment:

  • Ten, eleven, or twelve months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
