Job Title:Community Drowning Prevention Coordinator

Location:SouthLondon, Dorset, Norfolk, Essex, Kent

Job Purpose: To form part of an operational task force for RLSS UK – The drowning prevention charity in order to support volunteers and partners to deliver the organisations key drowning prevention education

Reporting to:Volunteers and Community Manager

Role and Responsibilities

Capacity growth management

  • Increase local voluntary capacity in line with local needs and key strategic aims
  • Improve voluntary capacity for national volunteer support structures (RLSS UK branches)
  • Coordinate and support local volunteer training needs

Relationship management

  • Be the face of RLSS UK to engage groups and supporters to fully support the charities strategic direction
  • Manage a visitation schedule for local lifesaving groups
  • Attend local branch meetings to develop relationships and manage change
  • Manage relationships between local lifesaving groups and local branches
  • Disseminate strategic knowledge of the charities key direction
  • Work to develop synergy with current operational staff

Community development and education

  • Coordinate start up activity, including: fundraising initiatives; programme and project growth.
  • Coordinate mass community education events
  • Bring together partners to develop multiagency water safety partnerships
  • Identify local bodies, education authorities and supporters to drive drowning prevention education
  • Support the growth of the business to open up access to experience open water environments

Administration

  • Collect and input data
  • Record key issues and with other team members work to collaborativelyprovide solutions
  • Produce reports to help record and manage development and change

Person Specification

Essential / Desirable
A good knowledge of lifesaving and water safety / University Degree or equivalent experience
Strong Relationship building skills / Good presentation skills
Good listening skills / Previous experience involving charitable work
Be able to negotiate and influence / Previous fundraising experience
Be able to multi-task and manage time effectively
Be self-motivated and a self-starter
Have a full UK Driving licence
Be computer literate and have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
