Job Description
Job Title: Campaign Organiser
Responsible to: General Secretary - Scotland
Location:Parliamentary seats and key electoral areas as determined by the General Secretary - Scotland
Key purpose:The Campaigns Organiser will be responsible for organising and campaigning within a designated area. The area may be varied by the General Secretary - Scotland
S/he will be responsible for building and maintaining party organisation and activity; establishing an effective election and campaign organisation for all elections including all local, parliamentary, European and by-elections within the designated area; working in liaison with the MP, officers, campaign committee, Constituency Labour Parties, Branches, Labour Groups and other units within the Party.
The post holder will be part of the Regional Team, reporting direct to the General Secretary – Scotland.
Specific Responsibilities:
- To enable and empower members and supporters to organise and campaign in their local community and win elections
- To work with candidates, elected representatives and local parties to identify, develop and organise campaigns and to motivate and organise members and supporters
- To identify campaign leaders and provide training and support to campaign leaders and members on organising, campaign and election techniques
- To ensure a focus on growing the Labour Party and Labour movement in the local community
- To develop local fundraising and fundraising schemes to ensure CLPs in the area have adequate funding to organise, campaign and contest elections, and make agreed contributions towards any employment costs;
- To help build relationships between local CLPs, stakeholders and organisations to build the Labour Party and campaigns in the designated area
- To organise campaign events within the constituencies in the designated area;
- To report on the level of all activity, organisation and the effective operation of Party rules in each of the constituencies to the General Secretary - Scotland;
- To develop communications systems with branches, members, other units of the party, affiliated organisations and the local community to promote the Labour Party and build the Labour movement
The post holder will be expected to operate on a flexible basis, and to undertake such tasks as shall from time to time be determined by the General Secretary - Scotland including working at conferences and parliamentary by-elections away from his/her working base for a limited period, if required.

KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- A knowledge of organising and campaigning techniques
- A knowledge and understanding of the Party organisation at branch, constituency and regional level
- A basic understanding of the Labour Party constitution
- A knowledge of fundraising techniques
- A knowledge of election law and other relevant laws and regulations including PPERA
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience of organising volunteers
- Experience of working on own initiative
- Experience of fundraising
