Job Title: Business Development Coordinator

Salary: up to £32,000p.a.

Hours: 37.5 per week

Location: Kingstanding and Castle Vale, Birmingham

Accountable to: Service Manager

Post term: minimum 18 months

Job Purpose:

To be responsible to the Service Manager for the establishment and development of a viable, sustainable social enterprise for the community of Kingstanding, securing contracts for the social enterprise from businesses and residents in order to provide work opportunities for young people.

Job Description:

The post holder is responsible for:

  • the establishment and development of a social enterprise, taking the enterprise from an embryonic idea to sustainability
  • networking with and developing relationships with stakeholders in order to secure lucrative contracts for the social enterprise
  • liaising with the Trainer and the Service Manager in order to ensure the effective delivery of contracts
  • achieving the project outcomes and key performance indicators set for the Social Enterprise’s development
  • reporting on performance against key performance indicators to senior managers and the KRT Board
  • supporting wider KRT work and development in Kingstanding
  • carrying out any other tasks which may be reasonably regarded as falling within the work requirements of the role

Person Specification

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of leading on the development, negotiation and securement of lucrative business contracts and commissioning – from new prospect to contract
  • Demonstrable experience of working under pressure, to deadlines and achieving income targets
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable experience of networking and developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels. Experience of managing a budget
  • Experience of implementing monitoring and evaluation systems and reporting
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, web research, presentations
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to write and present reports and other material for a variety of purposes, and to present complex information in a simple way to a wide range of audiences
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Knowledge and understanding of business development and the political, economic and social environment in which services need to be delivered
  • An enthusiasm for working with and mentoring young people
  • An ability to think creatively
  • A positive, enthusiastic and energetic outlook
  • A self-starter, able to work on your own initiative
  • Team-working skills, including an ability to work in a flexible and adaptable way
  • Access to a car and ability to drive

Desirable

  • An understanding of social enterprise development including all relevant legislation and governance
  • Experience of working within a social enterprise setting
