Job Title:Assistant Producer

Department:Production Team

Responsible To:Producer

Main Purpose:The Assistant Producer will support the Producer with projects in all our spaces, as well as offering support on the development of new projects.

Key responsibilities:To support all contracting, negotiation, and research on future productions, including co-production agreements and commissions. Attend production meetings and undertake general administration.

Main duties:

  • Drafting and negotiating creative team and actor contracts
  • Assist the theatre’s freelance Casting Directors with administrative arrangements for auditions, booking audition rooms inside and outside of Sheffield when required, maintaining accurate updated information for bookings of spaces within the complex.
  • Produce all readings and workshops, including new projects and programmes of work to support the theatres’ artistic policy both inside and outside the buildings
  • Work closely with the Fundraising and Communications teams to develop collaborative and audience development opportunities.
  • Support the production team over logistics, schedules and expenditure.
  • Work closely with the Company Manager to ensure accurate database information sheets for contractual reference.
  • Support and promote all company policies, with specific attention to Equality & Diversity, Customer Care, Health & Safety and Data Protection.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times with particular regard to the health, safety and welfare of customers, visitors and staff.

General:

  • As a term of your employment you may also be asked to undertake other such appropriate duties as and when required of you, as well as being asked to work flexible hours to suit the operation of the organisation.
  • Participate in all training and development initiatives as required.
  • Comply with the organisation’s policies and legal obligation regarding health and safety, environmental health and employment practices.
  • The position of Assistant Producer may involve access to persons who are disabled or under the age of 18 or over 65 and appointment is subject to being checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). PERSON SPECIFICATION/ COMPETENCIES

Essential:

  • Passion for theatre.
  • Previous experience of producing theatre.
  • Ability to communicate and deal with people in an effective and diplomatic way.
  • Ability to manage your own time effectively while juggling multiple tasks, often under pressure, whilst maintaining good humour.
  • Ability to act on your own initiative.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Energy and motivation.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working in an office environment.
  • Full driving licence.

MAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary:c£20,000 per year

Probation: Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of 6 months’ probation.

Hours:Nominal average weekly hours are 40 excluding meal breaks. In addition you will be required to work such hours and/or days, as are needed to fulfil the requirements of the position. Time off in lieu will be given for hours worked over 40 in a week subject to such hours having been authorised by your manager. Time off in lieu is credited at single time and will be allocated and taken within the following 8 weeks or by agreement added to holiday entitlement.

Holidays:Holiday entitlement is 5 weeks 4 days per year increasing by a day each year up to a maximum of 6 weeks 4 days after five years’ service. This holiday entitlement includes Public Holidays.

Pension: On successful completion of the probationary period you are eligible to join a defined benefits pension scheme (The People’s Pension) with an employer contribution of 3.5% of basic pay and a minimum matching employee contribution. During your probation you will be auto enrolled into The People’s Pension in accordance with statutory deadlines and contributions.
