Purpose of the New Role:

To provide professional project management, support and advice in support of the delivery of the School's strategic aim of achieving triple accreditation. To work closely with various School colleagues to develop existing operational systems and processes (and establish new ones where required) for the delivery of the various accreditation and rankings activities of the School. To provide professional support to School committees, relating to teaching, accreditation and rankings.

Main Responsibilities / % time per year
1. / Accreditation
Working in partnership with theacademic leads for accreditation, take responsibility for the planning and management of the following processes:
  • The re-accreditation process for EQUIS (European Association for Management Education) and submission of annual progress reports, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • The accreditation process for AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
  • Any other accreditation activities as needed (e.g. reaccreditation by AMBA (Association of MBAs), individual course accreditations, etc).
This will involve responsibility for the following areas:
Data Requirements:
  • To understand and identify data requirements, working with the Systems Team to embed them into University/School systems and processes. Develop robust, consistent and up to date systems and processes to underpin the accreditation process.
  • Managing the collection of large volumes of complex data from a variety of sources both within and outside the School.
  • Reformatting material collected as necessary, and preparation of data sets to meet the specific requirements of the various accreditation bodies.
Accreditation Submissions:
  • Assisting with the writing of the accreditation submissions.
  • Preparation, production and presentation of agreed submission toaccreditation bodies.
  • Responsible for the management and control of collaborative documents, implementing version control, ensuring changes and revisions are clearly identified and ensuring that documents are reviewed and approved prior to submission.
Communication/Networking:
  • Internal communication with School staff, assisting themto gain a greater understanding of the various accreditation requirements and their role in the processes.
  • Managing communications with accreditation bodies, including the planning of visit arrangements.
  • Acting as a principal point of contact with accreditation bodies ensuring that an excellent working relationship is established and maintained.
  • Attending relevant courses, conferences, networking events both nationally and internationally on behalf of the School as appropriate.
Follow-up:
  • Following any visit/correspondence undertake the planning and implementation of the accreditation panel’s recommendations.

2. / Rankings and Associated Surveys
To take overall responsibility for the implementation of the School’s rankings strategyand policyinvolving the following activities:
Data Requirements and Rankings Submissions:
  • Responsibility for the collection and collation of relevant data from across the School.
  • Work with colleagues to identify data requirements, develop systems and processes to support the submissions to rankings on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure the timely provision of all material needed by the ranking bodies.
Communication:
  • Acting at the principal point of contact with the various rankings organisations ensuring that an excellent working relationship is established and maintained.
Research:
  • Undertaking research and gathering intelligence concerning rankings.

3. / Committee Support
To contribute to the development and implementation of policies through the servicing and membership of a number of School Committees (Accreditation, Ranking, and Teaching Committees). Responsibilities will include:
  • Servicing the committees, to include the drafting and presentation of papers, coordination of information, and the production of minutes and follow-up of action points.
  • Providing advice to the committees and to ensure that the School is up-to-date and fully conversant with the requirements of the various rankings and accreditation bodies.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications/ Education / EITHER
Degree qualified in relevant subject/relevant formal training, plus some hands on experience in a similar or related role(s).
OR
Proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of a specific/specialised field of work. /
  • Project management qualification – APM, Prince2 or similar.

Skills/Training /
  • Awareness and understanding of current issues in HE.
  • Excellent IT skills and advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to manage large and complex documents and datasets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Thorough, consistent and methodical approach to administrative tasks.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills with an ability to produce high quality documents.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritising and planning own workload to deliver to targets.

Experience /
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
  • Experience of managing projects.
