Job purpose - overview

The Business Account Manager (BAM) is responsible for business change by securing commitment and helping to deliver actions from WRAP’s corporate partners (mostly businessessignatories),which support WRAP’s programme aims and objectives.
For an agreed portfolio of partners, BAMs will develop and maintain excellent relationships with key personnel and teams within the organisation. They will work closely with partners to identify and catalyse programme-specific plans and initiatives, coordinating with internal colleagues and directly delivering (where appropriate) the work with stakeholders.
The BAM will explore opportunities to maximise our impact with their stakeholders beyond the Programme they are working in - promoting cross programme working where beneficial.

Core accountabilities

  1. Establish positive, deep working relationships with key relevant stakeholders (mostly business signatories, and their sector bodies) in order to influence stakeholders to act and secure support for WRAP’s objectives and targets.
  2. Where relevant, research and recruit signatories to WRAP’s voluntary agreements, campaigns and initiatives. Securing financial contributions where required.
  3. Manage a portfolio of signatories and stakeholders, managing their engagement and securing their commitment to deliver towards WRAP’s agreement or initiative targets and objectives. Ensuring relevant signatories report fully against any voluntary agreement targets in a timely manner. Help them evaluate progress and next steps.
  4. Drawing on WRAP’s resources, tools, expertise and research, to help identify and embed the most impactful changes within relevant stakeholders to improve resource efficiency and prevent waste –in the organisation, its supply chain and with its consumers.
  5. Directly deliver advice and support to signatories and/or relevant stakeholders to help further WRAPs objectives and to develop strong relationships (e.g. providing technical advice, recommending best practice, facilitating workshops)
  6. Keep up-to-date with relevant market knowledge, developments and trends in the sector, as well as up-to-date on major stakeholders within your portfolio. Focusing on nation, UK wide, European and global issues as required.
  7. Provide excellent, professional customer service to stakeholders and signatories, utilising WRAP processes and systems to ensure engagement is clearly recorded (e.g. CRM system or equivalent).
  8. Help to broker links and provide coordination to other teams and colleagues who may be (or wish to be) engaged with stakeholders within your portfolio. Updating any stakeholder system or database as required. Thereby identifying opportunities to transfer learning and for efficient knowledge management.
  9. Work with, and support, marketing and communications colleagues to help support WRAP’s work with stakeholders, e.g. the development of case studies, digital communications, events etc.
  10. Contribute to the preparation and development of progress reports and impact monitoring data as required.
  11. Undertake work with other relevant programmes or sector teams within and outside WRAP as and when required.

  • Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of experience within at least one of the following sectors: sustainability, electricals or textiles sectors (demonstrable experience in one of the three sectors is essential)
  • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders to deliver outcome based targets
  • Full driving licence and ability to drive and travel

Desirable

  • Knowledge of retail, manufacturing or processes in the relevant business sector.
  • Awareness of environmental drivers and circular economy issues in the business sector.
  • Experience of securing new business and pitching for paid work.
  • Welsh speaker
  • Marketing, PR and other communications techniques to influence behavioural change
