JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The management of and provision of expert advice on the selection, design, justification, implementation and operation of technology, information security controls and security management techniques relating to any aspects of information systems.

To provide a high quality, customer focused support in accordance with the Staff Charter – Serving with PRIDE.

CORE WORK AREAS:

1.Manager, develop and motivate staff in security section, modelling the values and behaviours set out in the Force Leadership and Staff Charters.

2.Develop security policy, standards and guidelines appropriate to business, technology and legal requirements and in accordance with best professional and industry practice.

3.Provide authoritative advice and guidance on the application and operation of all types of ICT security controls including Anti-Virus, Encryption, Email and Internet Content checker.

4.Conduct ICT security control reviews for a full range of control types and techniques and recommend appropriate action to senior management.

5.Ensure integrity of networks by infrastructure components and monitoring tools including the LANDESK suite of products in particular the SECURITY suite.

6.Identify threats and provide authoritative advice and guidance on the application and operation of all types of ICT Security controls.

7.Conduct investigation, analysis and review following breaches of security control and prepare recommendation for appropriate control improvements.

8.Interpret and apply ICT security policy and public standards.

9.Deliver and develop the development of specialist IS security education and learning for IS and system user management and staff.

10.Create a centre of ICT information security expertise for the organisation.

11. During peak times you may be required to support colleagues in other areas of the department

in line with the overall nature/level of responsibility and grade of this post with reasonable

training.
