General Description (Purpose and Function):
Performs a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices.
· Performs breast imaging procedures, including breast interventional procedures and ultrasound.
· Positions patients, using immobilization when necessary, and explains procedures to patients.
· Performs the quality control functions.
· Evaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality.
· Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques.
· Develops mammographic film and matches it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
· Assists in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
· Performs other related duties incidental to the work therein.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge and ability to use mammographic radiation equipment.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
· Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
· Associate (2-year) degree in a science-related field required.
· Current/valid Florida Mammography license required.
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
· One year of relevant work experience in a medical setting required.
