Appendix 4 – JE Pay Structure Assimilation

The examples below show how you may move from the current pay structure onto the new pay structure, with backdating or pay protection where applicable. They are not exhaustive and your own case may need to be worked out separately for you.

Example 1 – Currently paid below the minimum salary for the new grade

You are in the current structure at Grade SO1 on a salary of £24,892 (SCP29)–job evaluation moves you to the new structure at Grade 5

  • You will move onto the new pay structure at £26,539 (SCP 31). This will be backdated to 1st April 2011
  • You will receive an increment rise to £27,323 (SCP 32) This will be backdated to 1st April 2012
  • You will then remain at £27,323 (SCP 32) as this is the maximum for Grade 5

Date / Current Pay Structure – SO1 / New Pay Structure – Grade 5
01/04/11 / £24,892 (SCP29) / £26,539 (SCP 31) / You move to the base increment of the new pay grade as this is higher than your current scale

  • Your indicated pay in the new pay structure is £23, 945 (SCP28).This will normally be applied from1st April 2011 but we have said reductions will not be backdated. Your pay should be reduced from 1st April 2014. However you will have a period of pay protection for 12 months (the pay reduction is between 0% and 19%).
  • Once Pay Protection has ceased you will be paid £23, 945 (SCP28) per annum
