Visitor Services Guide

Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager, the Visitor Services Guide is responsible for running the visitor services operations efficiently, and ensuring that visitors feel welcome and are aware of visitor guidelines. As the face of the Nasher Sculpture Center members of the team assist the Visitors Services Manager by selling tickets, memberships, handing out audio tours and providing information about the museum’s collection and the community at large. The Visitor Services Museum Guide is tasked withensuring that visitors have a positive experience at the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Main Duties:

  • Ticket sales- Greet every visitor and make sure they are aware of the different price categories. Be aware of the form of payment and handle cash transactions carefully and efficiently.
  • Membership- As a part of the development department you are required to ensure that every member visit is positive. Please document each member visit in the database. It is part of your job to mention a membership to all guests who are not members and to discuss renewals with members who are within three months of expiration. Make sure to explain different membership types and help with general membership questions.
  • Audio Tour- Hand out audio tour properly as instructed by Antenna Audio and your Manager. Take count at the end of the day and return all the players to the charger. Make sure all players are kept clean and tell your Manager or the Assistant Manager if that is not the case of if a player is broken.
  • Information Point- You are to be the main point of contact for customer queries related to facilities, exhibitions and the community at large and provide excellent customer care. Visitor Services Guides will receive training and a resource guide on the Visitor Services guidelines and the Nasher Sculpture Center collection.Guide visitors on tours on an as needed basis.
  • Assists Visitor Services on special occasions and as needed, including but not limited to checking in guests for special occasions.
  • Gather visitor feedback by conducting surveys and interviews.
  • Desk- Keep the desk tidy and well stocked with brochures. Let you supervisor know if you run low on office supplies, ticket stock and screen wipes.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported to the Manager or the Assistant Manager and to Security.
  • Assist with clerical duties as requested by the Manager of Visitor Services.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated demeanor that exudes friendliness and professionalism.As highly visible representative of the museum, it is essential that all Visitor Services Staff are polite, presentable, responsible and committed individuals.
  • A commitment to working to high standards and providing the highest level of visitor services.
  • Previous experience in a customer related environment essential, ideally in a box office, or retail environment.
  • College degree required.Art History background preferred.An interest in art and culture highly desirable.
  • Must be available for weekends and special events such as Target First Saturday, ‘Til Midnight, Soundings, member receptions, and other events. Will receive an event calendar months in advance. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. This is a part time position.
