JOB DESCRIPTION: SIMS DATA AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
GRADE/SALARY RANGE: KENTRANGE 4
HOURS: 37hours a week for41 weeks a year

Essential / DesirableQualifications
/- Good general standard of education, preferably to at least NVQ3 or equivalent
Specific Skills, Experience and Knowledge /
- Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety regulations
- Competent in use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of Safeguarding children and young people and Child Protection
- Experience of working with confidential information

Responsibilities
In conjunction with and supporting the SIMS Data Manager:-
- To ensure the integrity, quality and completeness of all data (both student and staff) on SIMS, in line with Data Protection Act requirements, so that SIMS can be treated as the golden source of pupil and staff data within the school; the analysis, interpretation and reporting of the data, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met, and to manage the SIMS database generally, including maintenance, system updates and back ups.
- To keep abreast of all developments and evolution of the SIMS system.
- To be the point of contact for SIMS queries and issues
- To ensure that all SIMS data is accurate and complete at all times and that any changes are effected accurately and in a timely manner.
- To manage and undertake all administration, report production etc. including Key Stage results, Option choices and student preferences etc.
- To manage and undertake the inputting of student transfer data records as and when necessary but particularly prior to the start of each new academic year, liaising with others as appropriate and necessary.
- To interpret and analyse all data and standard reports within SIMS
- To undertake all school reporting requirements including, but not confined to, school and workforce census, pupil progress / attainment reports, pupil and teacher timetables.
- To analyse all data requirements, identifying areas for improvement and delivery of any agreed improvements
- To set up, recommend amendments as necessary and monitor staff access
- To set up and maintain EMASYS and liaise with Capita with queries/problems
- To identify improvements that can be made to systems and/or processes and implement as required.
- To deputise for the SIMS Data Manager in his or her absence.
- To support the school administrative and non-teaching functions in tasks necessary to ensure the smooth running of the school
- To act as a tutor, or to provide ‘student support’ for part of each day (the nature of this support will be negotiated with the postholder)

The SIMS Data Manager may be required to undertake any other reasonable tasks as required by the Headteacher.
