JOB DESCRIPTION –SENIOR PERFORMANCE NUTRITIONIST

Salary Scales: £36,259 - £47,298 pa. pro rata

Grade: Level 3 (All Sciences)

Hours of Work:Such hours as necessary to carry out your duties. This will involve a minimum of 11 hours per week (0.3 FTE) and may include working outside normal office hours at evenings and weekends and on Public Holidays.

Location: The normal place of work is BWB’s Elite Training Centre which is based at EIS Sheffield, however the EIS may from time to time require you to travel to and work at other offices.

ROLE SUMMARY

This role will manage the delivery and development of nutritional support for World Class Programme athleteswithin Wheelchair Basketball, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to create a world class high performance training environment.

MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES

Work within the Wheelchair Basketball Performance Support team and the EIS technical interface to improve performance through developing, implementing and pioneering world leading Performance Nutrition services to British Wheelchair Basketball.

  • Lead the development of a strategic approach to Performance Nutritionwithin the sport
  • Actively promote the role of food to enhance performance.
  • Develop, implement and monitor innovative and evidence based practical

nutrition strategies tailored to the needs of the sport

  • Develop methods to measure the impact of Performance Nutrition within the sport
  • Ensure that the delivery of nutrition support effectively meets the objectives and commitments of athletes, coaches and the National Governing Body.
  • Work with coaches and support staff in determining appropriate methods of implementing the overall programme of nutrition service, including strategic support, educational programmes, individual consultations and group sessions as required.
  • Support world class athletes at major camps and competitions
  • Participate in developing and mentoring junior staff if required
  • Work within the rules of professional confidentiality, liaise with athletes, primary care managers, parents, coaches and other support staff as appropriate within the rules of the SENr Code of Conduct, standards and guidelines and where appropriate, the EIS host agency
  • Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches, including detailed records of work done with individual athletes.
  • Engage with and support continuous professional development in anti-doping, i.e. UKAD Accredited Advisor Certification
  • Demonstrate ongoing and up-to-date knowledge, awareness and commitment to Athlete Support Personnel roles and responsibilities under the current World Anti-Doping Code
