Hours:Monday – Friday 7.30 am – 11.45 am (Reception)

Monday – Friday 12.10pm – 13.15 pm (MDS)

Receptionist - Purpose of the Job:

To provide a friendly, efficient reception service to support the smooth operation of the school.

Receptionist - Key duties and responsibilities:

Provide a friendly, efficient and professional reception service – greeting visitors, staff, pupils and supply teachers and ensure they sign in/out in accordance with school procedures.
Answer gate bell as and when required.
Answer enquiries received in person/by phone or via emails – responding to queries/relaying messages and acting on instructions as needed and referring where appropriate.
Organise and use Teacher 2 Parents text, email and parent evening bookings.
Ensure monies received for dinner/clubs/trips are recorded and passed to the relevant person. To liaise with parents about outstanding monies.
Provide a secretarial and administrative service as required to the Head of School and other staff, keeping the school diary, making arrangements and carrying out general office duties including word processing/data entry/filing and photocopying as required to support the efficient operation of the school.
Maintain supplies for photocopiers.
Record and post all outgoing mail and received/open and distribute all incoming mail and deliveries including taking post to the Post Office for recorded/special deliveries.
Update SIMS data base as and when required
Deal with emergency issues in the absence of office colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the school office is maintained.
Administration of Medical and Dental Screening visits
Organise and manage the photographing of individuals and classes of children on an annual basis and the subsequent purchasing of photos.
Administer medicines and first aid to pupils to ensure their welfare at school.
Liase with afternoon receptionist and ensure a smooth handover of queries and information.
Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health and Safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the School Business Manager.
Any other reasonable requests as directed by the School Business Manager

MDS - Purpose of the Job:
Supervise the pupils during the mealtime period to minimise any disruption, ensure their wellbeing and maintain their safety.
MDS - Key duties and responsibilities:
  1. Put out tables (where applicable), and set with cutlery and beakers in time for the mealtime period to ensure there are sufficient settings for the number of pupils eating that day.

  1. Ensure pupils enter the dining room in a safe and orderly fashion and behave appropriately when queuing for their meal in order to maintain safety and wellbeing of all pupils.

  1. Ensure pupils eating meals are seated in an orderly fashion to maintain safety and wellbeing of the pupils.

  1. Where applicable prepare hot or cold meals based on agreed menus, clean and tidy equipment at the end of each session.

  1. Assist the pupils, as necessary, during the meal break to ensure their wellbeing. This may include providing them with a drink, helping with spillages, cutting up food and caring for pupils’ personal needs. This will depend on the type of school.

  1. Ensure plates, etc., are cleared from tables in an appropriate mannerto maintain a clean and tidy environment and to free up space for any further sittings where applicable.

  1. Ensure once meals are finished that the dining area is wiped down, etc., and is left in a clean and tidy manner to maintain a clean and tidy environment.

  1. Assist in collecting pupils from collection point and escort to hall/classroom or patrol and supervise school areas used by the pupils at mealtimes, to ensure safety and appropriate behaviour is observed, as applicable.

  1. Operate, where applicable, a first aid service, during the mealtime to deal with any accidents that occur safely and quickly.
