We are looking for someone with a passion to transform healthcare using technology and demonstrating the value of digital health. You’ll be working with a talented team and strong mission to drive more seamless, efficient, patient-centered, and safe care for our patients. Brigham Digital Innovation Hub (iHub) [URL: https://www.bwhihub.org/] is an initiative within Brigham and Women’s Hospital that supports digital initiatives across Brigham Health.

The iHub Executive Director will report directly to Chief Information Officer of Brigham Health. The incumbent will play a key role in building on the vision of collaboration, and growing digital health innovation at BWH by helping to synergize and enable innovation activities in the hospital setting. The team works with internal clinicians, researchers, and staff to accelerate and commercialize their ideas. In addition, the iHub partners externally with industry to match solutions to hospital-identified challenges.

The Executive Director will support the development and growth of digital health innovation at BWH by working creatively at the intersection of the hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization, the Brigham Research Institute, BWH Information Systems, Partners HealthCare Innovation (our Technology Transfer office) and the divisions and departments across the hospital to support clinical innovation and commercialization efforts. The executive director will collaborate and build relationships across the health technology innovation ecosystem in Boston and beyond to build on the momentum to transform care delivery and research through digital health.

This role will be action oriented and require a strong emphasis on managing and building new relationships (internal and external) for business development and influencing stakeholders. The Executive Director must have strong interpersonal skills as success will be based on how to accomplish objectives through others, including peers, faculty, various hospital and Partners leaders as well as external industry collaborators. Requirements include: strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to balance competing priorities, the ability to assess the value and priority of work to be done. Principal duties may vary over time.

Internal:

·  Manage a team and work closely with iHub innovation strategy managers to support, champion and help prioritize their work in the three iHub core focus areas; 1) Hospital challenges 2) Digital infrastructure 3) Open innovation studio

·  With regard to hospital challenges, ED will develop and maintain relationships with hospital leadership to accelerate the use and application of digital health technology to provide hospital solutions.

·  With regard to digital infrastructure ED will partner with BWH Information Systems (IS) to ensure iHub plans are in line with IS priorities and plans and that support will be available for iHub priorities

·  With regard to open innovation studio ED will engage with department and division chairs and leaders to enable a clear entry point at the open innovation studio for internal innovators. As relevant ED will help the studio leader by attending research meetings to provide input.

·  ED will be lead point of contact for digital health innovation with the Partners Innovation team, though innovation strategy managers will have regular day to day interaction related to their individual projects.

·  ED will be responsible to regularly work with and update senior Brigham Health leadership

External:

·  ED will be responsible for engaging partners and building collaboration opportunities across the innovation ecosystem including big industry; technology, big data, pharma, devices and startups

·  ED will help to forge relationships with appropriate digital health partners including accelerators, investors, and other relevant organizations.

·  ED will use his/her understanding of opportunities within the Brigham Health system and creativity to create relationships with industry.

Marketing/Thought Leadership:

·  Develop the marketing vision for digital innovation and the iHub portfolio at the Brigham

·  Review and approve all marketing outreach from iHub including but not limited to; iHub website, emails, papers, media, and blogs

·  Work with team to ensure consistent and effective message across presentations and talks

·  Lead events, such as Hackathons, Shark Tanks, and speaker series, to support culture of digital health innovation at the hospital and in the broader health technology community

·  Partner with Communications and Public Affairs to ensure a reasonably regular flow of content and communication both internally and externally about iHub efforts and partnerships

·  Be a regular speaker at digital health events, conferences and programs across Boston and beyond.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

·  MBA preferred

·  Must have significant experience in business development and developing relationships and closing opportunities with outside organizations

·  Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in one or all of the following areas is preferred:

o  Innovation

o  Healthcare innovation

o  Strategy

o  Digital Health

o  Digital Technology

·  Interest in the new, novel, cutting edge side of healthcare

·  Experience with product development in digital health or other digital technologies

·  Experience with startups, incubators, venture capital

·  Proven team management skills

6.  Have a thirst for knowledge – the ideal candidate has a passion for healthcare innovation, creativity and new technologies.

7.  Must be highly flexible, comfortable working within an evolving structure and able to re-establish priorities as they change.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Describe the conditions in which the work is performed.

Busy open working environment. Work may entail early morning or evening meetings. Position will require travel to Partners and other off-site locations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: List the number of FTEs supervised.

The executive director may supervise between three to five people at a time including but not limited to; innovation strategy managers, medical directors and others.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Indicate financial “scope” information, i.e.: size of budget, volume, revenue, etc.

The executive director will be responsible for managing iHub’s operating budget. In addition, the ED will work closely with finance annually and regularly throughout the year to forecast and project spending and expected changes in expenses or revenue.
