JOB TITLE:Marketing Officer – Charity

GRADE:Band 5

DIRECTORATE:Marketing and Communications

HOURS OF WORK:37.5 per week

SITE:Chelsea

RESPONSIBLE TO: CharityMarketingManager

(Line manager)

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Director of Marketing and Communications

(Director)

LIAISES WITH:Members of the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Teams, outside consultants and marketing experts.

Overview of the Post

To assist the Charity Marketingteam with the development and roll out of a wide-range of integrated campaigns which help to deliver the overall objectives for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. To support the development and delivery of direct marketing activity in order to recruit, retain and develop supporters in accordance with the Fundraising/Charity Marketing team strategy
  2. To develop a variety of fundraising materials for major donor and community fundraising events, that engage fundraisersin accordance with the Fundraising / Charity marketing team strategy
  3. To manage specific projects from initial brief by the fundraising team through creative development to production; being prepared to present them for critique at the weekly creative review meeting.
  1. To use database and analytics tools to review the success of each activity and use these results to improve future programmes.
  1. To effectively brief and manage a range of external agencies, graphic designers and printers to ensure a project is delivered on time and on budget.
  1. Ensure projects are delivered on time,to budget and to a high level, exercising creative judgment and implementing knowledge of media and problem solving where necessary.
  1. To carry out administration for the Marketing team: keeping project files, issuing schedules, writing project updates etc
  1. To work with the team to identifynew ways to build awareness of the Charity, taking an active role in building long term relations with supporters and partner organisations and increasing lifetime value.
  1. To work closely with the Fundraising, PR and Digital marketing teams to ensure that communications adhere to The Royal Marsden brand principles.
  1. To undertake any other relevant duties or projects delegated by the line manager, which are in line with the responsibilities of the post.

Appraisal and Personal Development Plan (PDP)

  1. Appraisal will be conducted on a yearly basis by the Marketing Manager.
  2. The postholder’s PDP will take account of the training and skills required for this post.
Confidentiality

All employees of The Royal Marsden NHS Trust must not, without prior permission, disclose any information regarding patients or staff (please also see the Trust’s policy on Whistle blowing). In instances where it is known that a member of staff has communicated information to unauthorised persons, those staff will be liable to dismissal. Moreover, the Data Protection Act 1998 also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of unauthorised disclosure of information.
